Yes, perfect proof that the southern right wing christian moral values include the denigration and denial of the humanity of people who don’t lock step jackboot with the bible thumpers.

Will someone down there go dump a bottle of maggots on his gravesite, and put the picture up on the web.

Fitting tribute to this scum of the earth, who proves that born again christianity really works. EXcept that it reborns the worst of humanity.

And I say there are several people whose pockets you line with money every time you smoke:

The politician’s
The tobacco company,
The doctor,
The hospital, when you get lung cancer, emphysema and several other tobacco-related illnesses,
The hospice when you are dying of your smoking-related diseases,
And finally the funeral home, when it’s time to bury or cremate you after you’ve died from these brutal smoking related diseases.

Let’s kick tobacco, and get another chance to live long, healthy and proud- to- be- gay lives before the tobacco does us in.

Here we go again people…Jesse Helms was the epitome of ignorance,intolerance,
hatefulness,and evil.But during his reign of terror,he was expressing the prevailing opinion of many American Citizens.
Should he be honored? His life was an embarrassment. His name and existence should be forever stricken from the history of the United States of America.

I wonder if they’ll honor Adolph Hitler, who stepped forward when his country needed an anchor, and whose legendary constituent service was second to none. Plus he shared many of Helm’s racial and religious views.

I live in North Carolina and grew up having to hear and see this man’s divisive actions and hateful speeches. There are many people like me in North Carolina that are appalled that they are honoring this man. Yet there are people in NC that think this man was an awesome righteous man. This just goes to show that we still have a long way to go.

Jere, this argument against term limits resonated for me: a constant flux of newbies would be inordinately dependant on those in government jobs who “know the ropes.” And there are no term limits on these people, who would end up running the country without benefit of being voted into office to do so. I see this in action in our city government more than not now. The rats are running the sinking ship.

Kudos for Julia Boseman and sssssssssss for those Democrats who “sat out the vote.”
