100 vehicles vandalized with homophobic, racial slurs

(Manassas, Virginia) Police have arrested four people after anti-gay and racial slurs were written on more than 100 vehicles in Manassas and Prince William County.

The vandals used a washable soap marker that was easily removed, but police said they are taking the issue seriously.

Police Chief Charlie T. Deane said in a statement that the vehicles were randomly chosen. He credited quick action by residents in the areas with helping lead to the arrests.

Deane said it appeared the four may have been under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

“Even though the damage was minimal, we treat these incidents very seriously, and they are investigated with a high priority due to the fear and anxiety they cause a community,” Deane told The Washington Post.

The four are charged with unlawful entry with intent to commit a hate crime. They are due to appear in court on Dec. 10.

    • I’m familiar with the climate in Prince William County, VA. They have some of the most hateful anti-immigrant government policies you’ll find anywhere. This story, then, doesn’t surprise me. When you foster a climate of hate, what do you get? Hate, of course.

    • I believe we as a GLBT community should rally support to end religious institutions from preaching politics from their pulpits and imposing their ideals of morality on others not of their faith or beliefs. It’s high time the U.S. started taxing churches as we would any other business.

    • As one of the highest gay political Gay Talk Talk Show hosts in th NY area. I am still appalled at th reactions of these so called religious groups trying to tell us how to live our lives. It is said tha we were alled created in Gods image. Therefore I was also greated in God’s image. Alot of these racial slurs are apparrently created and applauded by our so called religious organizatins. A man many years ago said these immortal words…. “I have a Dream.” He was brutally assinated but…. His Dream came True. That man wa Martin Luther King. Because of him dying for his beliefs & Dreams… We Now have a Black African American ad the New President of the U.S.A.
We as gay people are the last minority in the U.S.A not to have equal rights.
We have dreams too. Maby someday our dreams will come too true.

      Faithfully Yours.
