Though I truly want to believe that people see a positive as a positive, in regards to Mr. Obama's nomination, I have to agree with Karen and Rick by seeing Mr. McCain's ad as a commercial opportunity to keep in the game and not exactly genuine. I also got a feeling of condescension in the ad but that may just be because I'm biased against Mr. McCain.

I don't think it was sarcastic, per se, just a carefully calculated political move. I disclose that I'm a die hard Democrat, but I've grown cynical about the political moves by both parties. Hardly anything we see at this stage of the election is heartfelt or spontaneous. Every move, every word, has been contemplated, parsed, scrutinized, focus-group tested... This election feels more like a chess match than an election. Candidates become parodies of themselves. Parties move farther toward their base--whatever it is believed to be at any given election. No, McCain doesn't applaud this historical moment genuinely. He just wants to take some air out of it.

I do not feel he is being sarcastic, he is trying to show the country that he can make the changes in politics like Obama is trying to do. He does not have to resort to the old negative politics. I am for Obama, but that was a great move on the McCain team.

Am I the only person that perceived McCain's commercial as sarcastic?
