To chris evans,

I am 60 years old, and I grew up around churches and old people my whole young life. People, in general, become afraid when they have to face death. They fear the unknown, and their own inner self; they fear they may be evil and unworthy of humanity, much less a divine place in a fictional afterlife. They have been brainwashed to believe in a heaven and a hell. They GREATLY fear the fire and brimstone that was CONSTANTLY AND LOUDLY preached to them as a young child by the adults they loved and who they believed could tell no lies. That "fire and brimstone” fiction they have heard and the controlling adults and clergy who preach it don't want the people to think, just to do as they tell them. Do you remember the “Just do what I say!” from your parents when you asked why? Well, the clergy want you to do exactly the same.

Anyone who thinks about this stuff, and understands it, finally comes to the sane conclusion that this afterlife fiction cannot possibly exist. Everything about religion is made up by a human, and they always have a motive -- an ulterior motive. It is greed and power and control. This unfortunately was embodied in the basic platform of the Republican Party, BTW.

Anyway, when as I saw my family, friends and others around me age, particularly the women, they become frightened of this idea of an "eternity in hell", facing torment and pain. So when they grow old, or older, they "suddenly get religion" and stop thinking altogether. They begin to listen more and more to those lie-telling preachers and bible thumping bigots and never question the "not-so-bright" fictions they are being told.

By reason of this fear, they decide that everyone they know, and EVERYONE THEY DON’T KNOW, needs to believe as they do. They leave no room for different beliefs, dissention or beliefs to the contrary. They demonize everyone who disagrees with these same silly but DANGEROUS fictions. Hence we have a country of OLD BABY BOOMERS, who live with the pain of old age, and who manifest it as a FEAR of a painful afterlife, and who try their best to thrust all their guilt and fear on the rest of the world. They want forgiveness of their bad deeds, evil thoughts and all nasty stuff for which we would charge them if we could see into their deepest secret thoughts.

Without a doubt, this stuff has been bred into humanity by the powerful clergy of historical times, who did a murderous gene pool cleansing of anyone who disagreed with them and their religious fictions. Only over the last 200 or 300 years or so has a government allowed independent thought. The United States was the first country to allow freedom of speech and they separated the tyrannical clergy and monarchies from a secular government of the people. It may well be a long time until this religious breeding is squelched. You see, these religious ideas are a result of evolution, which they cannot admit, because it would upset their tales and control over their sheep. And they do not want opposing ideas taught to their children, for fear of loosing control of them.

Further, so many people believe their so-called “divine religious texts”, which are written by a human. They think all the bad stuff predicted in these texts (like the Book of Revelations of the Christian bible) might come true, simply because so many people have read it, believe it, and they will somehow make it come true. It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy, one that might never have happened if so many people had never been taught such a fairy tale. It is something to be feared by those who do not believe it because someone is trying to make it come to fruition.

We also still have to deal with a “tyranny of the majority”, and we must hope the court system of the U.S. will never be dominated by overly zealous religious bigots, ever again. And this is why we must vote for a President and Congress who will appoint appropriate Supreme Court Justices and never allow this tyranny to happen. Not now; not ever!

I predicted this mindset in the 1980's and I my self began to fear that the baby boom would change the basic political ideas of this nation with the completely irrational fear of hell, fire and brimstone. So far I have not been proven wrong. It is certainly food for thought. I hope this helps you understand the shape of our world today in 2008.

ON THE ISUE OF SAME SEX ADOPTION BAN...

I think that since there are so many Mothers that put there children up for adoption and also have there children taken away from them I dont think it matters either way since if you took a real close look at the issue there is so many gay cuples in the state and in the nation that would care for them with out question and This goes to the Church folks out there and non belivers on this issue here is the COLD HARD TRUTH OF THE MATTER AND IF YOU WOULD DO YOUR RESEARCH BETTER YOU ALL WOULD AGREE WITH ME ON THIS...

WE ARE BORN THIS WAY IF YOU EVER TOOK LIFE SIENCE YOU WOULD AGREE ON THIS PART.. OK YOU TAKE XX= FEMALE YY = MALE
NOW YOU A OFF SPRING XY + XY= BOTH GENDERS OR MIND OF FEMALE WITH MALE BODY
YOU TAKE YX + YX = BOTH AS WELL OFF SPRING HAS MIND OF MALE BUT WITH FEMALE BODY....

NOW THEN THIS HAPPENS IN NATURE NOT BY DECSIONS MADE BY US.. MOST OF US HAVE TRIED THE SO CALLED STRIGHT AND HAVING GIRL FRIENDS EXC. BUT NEVER FELT RIGHT.. BUT BEING WITH ANOTHER MAN FELT RIGHT FOR ME.. AND SO I HAVE BEEN HAPPY THIS WAY EVER SINCE THE ONLY THING IS NOT BEING ABLE TO HAVE KIDS OF OUR OWN SO WE LOOK TO ADOPTION BUT NOW THIS COUNTRY IS TRYING TO TAKE SOME OF THE CIVIAL RIGHTS WAY.. IF U WATCH FOX NEWS ALL THE TIME YOU KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT... TO ME THIS IS BECOMING A RETIREMENT COUNTRY NOT A WORKING COUNTRY FOR FOLKS 24- 45 YEARS OLD...

SO WHATS GOIN ON WITH THIS COUNTRY...
