This following sentence in this article may have escaped the attention of some albeit the distracting syrupy sensationalism and hype in the article about this governor.

"One of his most lasting achievements was signing a gay rights measure that made it illegal to discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation in housing, employment and public accommodations."

That one sentence is not sensationalism and that makes this person in some way historically relavent to the gay community of Wisconsin (WI) Not to any other state and not to the nation as a whole, but to the gay community of a state where he served as governor. He didn't have to do beans for the WI gay community yet he chose to do something to ban antigay discrimination in a very basic area of life that touches just about everyone: the need for housing, for work and also for a place to stay when away from home where law forbids couples to be kicked out just because they don't conform to the "heterosexual norm" of the majority population.

It is not newsworthy that the FBI investigated a presidential appointee. The headline is sensationalist and misleading. The original headline by AP was "FBI couldn't find dirt on popular ex-Wis. governor."
