Sorry, but this new format -- although it looks good on the screen -- is to me and, likely to other elderly-but-concerned gay people like me -- is virtually unreadable because of its nearly microscopic font size. Nothing I'm able to do seems to have any effect on enlarging the current font size. Can any feasible change be made? Thanks for trying! -- JWM, Retired Library director, New York City

I think McCain is old but old is not bad if you are still in tip top mental and physical health. Some people older than McCain are far better shape mentally and physically than he is. He is too full of old stale ideas that will just keep this land frozen in time, nothing new to offer America, just the same old antigay, win at all costs even if full of lies and propaganda, Rovian, Bush-Heavy and not Bush-Lite crap that will just lead this country down the path to oblivion economy wise, environment wise, antigay wise with his cronies all barking for a US antigay marriage amendment while all our jobs go overseas, while Iran gets stronger and we get weaker, while the world delights in a weak on its knees America is mired in hunger and poverty pleading for its allies to help it out and while we have less and less clean air, water and land.

I don't expect a magic bullet, but I am hoping that Obama (other than showing the world that the US presidency is no longer the exclusive realm of the antigay white male, Anglo-Saxon, Protestant stereotype) will steer our country on a new, better and hopeful path, pro-GLBT, one that at least partway "gets it" which McCain doesn't.
one where straight and GLBT are more and more equal, one where terrorism is on the wane due to tough but compassionate leadership, one where world leaders will have more respect of the US, where we can help lift up the poorer countries, where our economy improves, alternative and cleaner energy is more important, public transportation is improved to get people out of their cars, where air and water pollution control and economic activity don't have to be neceassarily at cross-purposes, where illiteracy is lessened, volunteering for charitable causes is more popular, where diseases like HIV/AIDS are properly and aggressively funded and fought and eventually in the future curable and preventable problems.

I am hoping that while Obama is not a panacea, at least his presidency is a new and hopeful beginning for this country. A land where anyone GLBT or straight, female or male with both smarts, experience and vision can one day be president. Hillary and Obama are both pioneers cracking the "glass ceiling" in our slow country for both non-white and women and shattering the stereotypical anti-GLBT white male, Anglo-Saxon Protestant mold of the US presidency, something that is long overdue.

Y'all should be embarrassed by McCain's low-class tactics. Remember this America, the world is watching and it doesn't much like what it's been seeing from you these past 8 years.
