Gay-bashing Cops Fired
07.31.2008 5:00pm EDT
(Indianapolis, Ind.) Indiana State Police fired two officers after allegations surfaced they assaulted a man outside an Indianapolis gay bar.
The man reported the attack to Indianapolis Metro Police, who began a criminal investigation.
There was not enough evidence to charge the police officers with a crime, but Metro Police turned over the file to the State Police, which conducted its own internal affairs review.
Officers Marcus Baxter and Curtis Swanson were fired Thursday, The Indianapolis Star reported.
“They were probationary officers, and their conduct is not the kind of conduct we would tolerate,” Maj. Carlos Pettiford told the paper.
Pettiford said because they were probationary officers they could be dismissed at any time.

great piece of news
it happens all the time but we dont have jessy or all to back us
I moved down to Atlanta from Indy about 9 years ago; did this happen at the bar formerly known as Our Place (OP)?
I have been told from people in Indy that the reason the police acted so swiftly is this:
The complaintant was Straight.
The policemen are Gay.
It is easy to fire Gay policemen. It is easy to believe straight complaintants.
It is the exact opposite of when a gay man complains. then the police troops rally round and nothing happens.
This is not really a gay-straight issue. It’s about 2 rookie cops who were acting like fools – and at least one of them was a well-known town hothead and alcoholic who should have never been made a cop to begin with.
