RachelWatch: Staying in School Is Now a Communist Activity
IndoctrinError
Our intrepid guest host Ana Marie Cox started us off with a look at the completely batpuckey reaction to President’s plan to address the nation’s schoolchildren about staying in school.
The ability to pretend that no other President has done before this is impressive. And willfully insane. As is the new apparent paradigm: Are we to believe that Barack Obama is doing something evil and Communist every time he speaks now? Is that the idea?
It sounds exhausting.

WtfND
Ana had further inside information on The Speech of Doom and other exciting tidbits from birther information clearinghouse WorldNetDaily.
Sam Tanenhaus, the author of The Death of Conservatism, dropped in to suggest that there might be other, smarter ways for conservatives to go.
Other and smarter? Yes. But those take risk and effort. Tickets for the Crazy Train are still free.
Tenth Revival
Ana took a look at the “tenther” movement, currently gaining steam in Georgia as some members of the government valiantly try to use the 10th Amendment to protect 42% their citizens from being able to afford basic preventive care.
Constitutional scholar Jonathan Turley dropped in to scoff.
What the Health?
Ana noted that the debate over health care reform has inspired both parties to do some awful and politically inexplicable things.
Former Labor Secretary Robert Reich helped her catalogue them, all the while saying the smart-guy version of “Are you KIDDING me?!”

Ms. Information
Ana gave us an update on the Wackenhut contractors who are guarding the U.S. Embassy in Afghanistan, apparently tasked with protecting it from seeming too stiff and professional.
Several participants in the development of Wackenhut’s innovative alcohol delivery systems have been fired or reassigned, but the contract hasn’t yet been terminated.
Well, yeah. You wouldn’t want to transition too quickly and lose the crackerjack program they’ve so carefully built.
Ana also reported on the kerfuffle over White House visitor logs, which were still part of a Bushian information blackout.
Until now, because the White House has now agreed to voluntarily release the logs online! As long as they don’t have anything in them the administration doesn’t want us to see! Sorry, what?
“Transparent” looks different than I remember.
How To Succeed in Business without Really Lying
Ana took a look at United Health Group’s Orwellian attempts to inspire its employees to political activism.
Jamie Court, president of Consumer Watchdog, seemed to think they might be just the teeniest bit illegal for some reason.

Oh, please. What are a few strong-arm tactics and implied threats to people’s jobs if you’re pretty sure your employees are going to go to that town hall anyway?
It’s no different than putting out doughnuts and coffee to get people to go to the morning meeting, right?
Gone Fishin’
As good a job as Ana did on Friday, people do tend to get upset when Rachel is not on the air.
If you are, at least you can take comfort in the fact that you are not an enormous dead fish.
Technically, that could work for a lot of situations, but in this case you have a specific mental image to work with.

Congrats to Ms. Cox and happy Labor Day to you.

One for Rachel, Ali, and Vanesco: “Hell, back in 1990 the Government seized the Mustang Ranch (prostitutes) for tax evasion, and, as required by law, tried to run it. They FAILED and it closed. Now we are trusting our economic system, our auto industry and our health care plans to the people who ran a failed whorehouse in Nevada and sold whiskey!”
Respectfully….
Oh, I dunno … Washington DC is the biggest whore-house in the nation, and the govt. seems to run THAT pretty well, albeit to THEIR own benefit.
Touche—and right on, Mr. Clark!
