RachelWatch: Scaring People To Death
End Game
Rachel started off by making a really good point about the people who are currently yelling about the government interfering in end-of-life decisions.

So to sum up: We were going to have a provision that meant that anyone could – for free – get complete, accurate information about his or her end-of-life options in order to make knowledgeable decisions in line with his or her personal beliefs.
And now we won’t.
Those of you who knowingly spread the false death panel rumors, every person who dies hooked up to a machine when he or she could have been in hospice or home care is a little piece of your legacy to this country.
Enjoy your hauntings. A little poltergeist action is the least you deserve.
Next on the agenda: Replacing hospital pudding with haggis.
It’s a Living
Apparently Rachel is trying to raise awareness about health care reform by making everyone’s brains fight with themselves until they get knotted.
Because it is almost impossible to believe that the three people featured in this next clip – even these three – could really be so outrageously ruthless and awful with no moral compasses whatsoever.
But for that not to be true, they would have to be too chuckle-headed to realize that they are shouting things that are completely opposed to things they have previously shouted, in one case just weeks ago.
But if that were the case, how would they manage to consistently remember to their pants on over their underpants? Or to go on TV without getting all overstimulated and swatting at the lights?
Which means each of these people must be so appallingly, soul-crushingly amoral…

I Know What You Did This Summer
Rachel opened this next segment by connecting the dots between the astroturf website Resistnet.com, grassfire.org, and (wait for it…) a Republican public relations firm.
And you know what? They’re not even hard dots to connect. It’s an easy layup for her. She’s right to be angry that there hasn’t been more aggressive and thorough reporting about this.
Senator Bernie Sanders (I – Vermont) joined Rachel to point out that frightening people with a scary fake issue is a great way to distract them from the real one.
Jeez, Republican PR guys, next time you want to derail a bunch of town halls, could you just hire some attractive streakers? We’d all be having a lot more fun.

Ms. Information
Rachel gave us an update on yesterday’s “Torture, Inc.” story from the New York Times.
Turns out even the process for building our secret CIA prisons was ridiculously corrupt.
Which I guess makes sense. If you need to set up secret overseas prisons so we can do things to people that we may not quite be allowed to do here, you probably don’t call the guy who gets all indignant when he’s offered a little graft.
Rachel also treated us to a weird leaked internal memo from DLA Piper, which is lucky enough to have Dick Armey as its senior policy advisor.
Dick Armey, in addition to being a former House majority leader in Congress and having a name that leaves me just barely clinging to the tiny scraps of adulthood I have managed to achieve, is the chairman of FreedomWorks. Which has been just a teeeeeeny bit involved with the town hall protests.
The missive is an odd butt-covering memo to DLA Piper employees, assuring them that the company is not “directly or indirectly” opposing health care reform or encouraging anyone to disrupt the discussion process.
The memo also said that DLA Piper had contacted the media with “corrections” on these matters, but somehow Rachel and staff hadn’t gotten theirs. Maybe they’re sending it with flowers?
Rachel will be appearing on Meet the Press with Mr. Armey on Sunday. It’s going to be difficult to eat breakfast while making little jabbing motions and screaming “Get him!”
Held in Iran
Just because things are changing in Iran doesn’t mean they have changed.
Imprisoned Newsweek reporter Maziar Bahari was forced, at a group show trial, to speak against news reporters for inciting the mass protests we’ve been seeing since the Iranian election.
Bahari has been in custody since late June. Attempts to negotiate his release have been going on quietly since then, but Newsweek and his family are now hoping to get things moving by drawing more public attention to his plight.
Rachel welcomed Bahari’s wife Paola Gourley and directed interested viewers to the Free Maziar Bahari website.
Just Enough
Kent finished off with a segment on furries and, aw, Kent and Rachel, leave the poor furries alone.
I don’t get their way of playing, but it seems harmless and consensual and they get dumped on every time someone needs a wacky story that everybody can make fun of and go “ew” at.
If I had to choose between trying to make polite conversation with someone from FreedomWorks or someone dressed up like an animal, I will take the person in the fur suit any day of the week.

This is totally political! Most of these people are Republicans who are very bitter still about the Dems holding the white house and both houses of congress. We complained about the Bush disaster for 8 years , though all complaints were valid truthful ones on our part,I believe. They have been on Pres. Obama’s case since he took office and they are relentless in pushing their lies and misconceptions regarding health care reform. These are the same people who go to their hypocritical, narrow-minded churches and praise Jesus and then, just because they have health insurance, don’t care a damn that poorer people don’t have any! I believe a-lot of the greedy insurance companies are involved in the lie spreading too!
EVERYONE who has more than 3 brain cells working together NEEDS to carefully listen to Senator Bernie Sanders clip on Ali Davis’ RachelWatch—2nd clip down! A clear voice of reason in this dangerous catastrophic mess in our country unfolding today.
Respectfully
Well Thanx To Bush The Health care went to Hell… Not Obama Has To try to Fix it … Hope he does
I find myself horrified and amazed at the state of our so called “community”. We are almost a decade into the new millennium; we have elected a President based on nothing more than the ability to sway the masses; our Constitutionally guaranteed LIMITED government has grown more in the last eight months than in the last three decades combined; now we’re throwing the Constitution out of the window by allowing Congress to legislate Healthcare and private Insurance Companies when they have NO RIGHT to do so.
We are willing to let so called “community activists” lead us around by the nose, telling us that we need to be putting all of our efforts into fighting for our ”equal rights” by doing something as childlike as voting for a candidate based on their views on SAME SEX MARRIAGE?! (BTW, Obama is against it!)
Hope and Change! Hope for what? Change at what cost? And at what price?
We are a diverse group of AMERICANS who have claimed ourselves a “community” with our only COMMON identifying factor being our sexual practices . Are we willing to give up the freedoms we share as Americans so that we can force the Federal government to legislate something they have no business or right to legislate.
We are supporting an unconstitutional government takeover of healthcare in the misguided, emotional, “feel good” idea that it’s only fair that everyone in the country have Health Insurance. What a noble concept. The reality is somewhat different. What good does it do to insure every American if we only wind up denying services.
Please stop listening to the activists, politicians and political pundits and begin by questioning the “facts” and “statistics” that are thrown at you by ALL of them. The letter that follows their name (R,D or I) does not tell you anything about the things we should be concerning ourselves with as to their ability or even their willingness to stand up and fight for the Constitution.
For those of you that are not only HIV+ but also in the “public” healthcare system as I am, please, think for yourselves.
We have allowed the Federal government to bailout a banking system that was on the verge of bankruptcy; having been forced there by government involvement in the “feel good” push to make mortgages available to citizens who would otherwise not be able to get one (usually because they couldn’t afford one, or had poor credit history; imagine that), which caused the housing market to grow out of control, artificially driving home prices sky high. Thank you fellow Queer, Barney Frank. The bubble burst. Please don’t feign surprise.
We then allowed the President to make the best use of a crisis to rush through a spending bill (also called a “stimulus” package) that without which “our unemployment rate would reach or exceed 9.5%”. Guess what? The national average is above that now. In some areas it exceeds 20%. The retail industry is experiencing the worst back to school sales in history and in some areas are already starting Christmas sales!
We Nationalized the Auto Industry (which was being destroyed by the legacy costs and associated Union extortions) while the U.S. Postal Service has lost $7 billion each year for two years in a row and we owe Medicaid/Medicare well over $1 trillion.
We are now on the verge of allowing the Whitehouse and Congress to trample on the Constitution by usurping powers specifically denied them by the Constitution (you will hear about the Interstate Commerce Clause as an excuse which is nothing more than a ruse), to legislate Healthcare and the Healthcare Insurance industry to the tune of at least $1.3 trillion.
How will we pay for this? So far the only explanation given is, cost cutting in Medicaid/Medicare. Keep in mind that we have now increased the National Debt to several trillion dollars (that does not include the monies we already owe Medicaid/Medicare). We are printing money that we do not have gold enough to back (Nixon did away with the Gold Standard), which means that each dollar in your wallet is worth less with each dollar printed. The head of the I.R.S. (who couldn’t manage to pay his own taxes and was forgiven the penalties and interest!) just asked Congress to increase the Debt Ceiling (without specifying a cap).
The Obama administration is quick to jump on the bandwagon that the worst is over for the economy (because the claims for unemployment were lower than expected). The worst is yet to come and if this healthcare debacle is passed it will only exacerbate the entire situation. The commercial real estate market is ready to tank, the only employment sector growing is the Federal Government (giving tens of thousands the incredible lifetime benefits, and increasing the deficit), foreclosures are increasing, property values continue to drop (while property taxes are climbing), bankruptcy applications are at their highest levels ever, the cost of living is increasing just as fast as inflation is yet Inflation hasn’t even begun to peak. Last years’ gas prices will be a fond memory in the next couple of years. If Cap and Tax passes in any form, the cost to each of us will be unreal (although we will create a whole new group of billionaires through the new trading market that will result. Just look at Europe; since they instituted Cap and Trade, carbon emissions have not been reduced, the cost of energy for Europeans has skyrocketed and a whole new set of investors have made a fortune trading credits).
We have heard a lot about the idea of rationing of Healthcare for senior citizens. When asked about the possibility of that happening, the Administration and Congress say that there is no way they would support rationing of healthcare. Yet how can we continue to give the care we are used to for everyone that is now insured (whether they purchase it themselves, it’s paid for by their employer or by the state or Federal government) and everyone that is uninsured (by choice or circumstance (illegal alien)), the Canadians’ and other legal aliens and pay for the tens of thousands of government workers needed to implement this new monster of beaurocracy without it? As our economy continues to plummet, as more people need more, as fewer citizens have income to tax (federal tax revenues have dropped dramatically in the last year), as our government keeps rushing to take care of everyone that needs it, our debt continues to mount; services will have to be rationed. We have a shortage of doctors’ and nurses’ now. If we add 47 million (there’s a lot of problems with that figure also) more people to the already over stretched system, how will we keep from rationing? The reforms that would actually make a difference for the good are not being talked about. Torte reform, allowing the free market to work without government interference, health savings accounts (before Brazil decided to turn Communist and seized the health saving accounts, they saw a huge increase in the number of millionaires), only carrying catastrophic health insurance while paying for non-emergent care out of our pockets (which would increase competition, drive down costs and increase the quality of care;when the money comes out of your own pocket, you aren’t willing to put up with as much incompetence or waste).
The President has surrounded himself with some interesting advisors (czars!). Some of the ideas that are subscribed to by some of these advisors scare the hell out of me. Sterilization of the masses through the public drinking supply to control population. Children are not considered viable until they reach the age of self awareness(just think, you’ll be able to abort a baby after it’s been born). Cost of care for an individual needs to by weighed by the ability of that person to once again be a productive citizen. Persons between the ages of 15 and 50 should be given the largest share of the pie at the expense of those that are of an age that they are not or will not be productive. Our Secretary of Health and Human Services fought for the right of twelve year olds’ to have an abortion without parental notification, let alone parental consent (and what about the person who RAPED that CHILD?).
Is it really such a stretch to see us denying care to people at the end of their life? Think it will only happen to senior citizen? What about when your viral load drops below 200? Maybe your third hospitalization? Your fifth? Your twentieth? How long should you be able to have Hospice care to let you die at home?
“Those who ignore the past are condemned to repeat it.”
Stop being sheep and be AMERICANS!!! Stop allowing the “leaders” of our “community” to keep us in the mindset of victims (why should it be less of a crime for someone to kill me for no reason then if they killed me because of my choice of sexual partner? What difference is it going to make to my partner if the person who killed me hated me or not?) and separate from our fellow AMERICANS over the right to same sex marriage when the government has no business in sanctioning any marriage let alone same sex marriage . The more we marginalize ourselves, the weaker we are and the bigger the target on our backs.
Let’s unite with our fellow citizens’ and take part in the fight to protect our Constitution and get Washington to understand that we will not allow any more social engineering. Stop voting based on the candidates party affiliation.
If we allow the government to take our rights to insure our security, we will wind up with neither.
There’s still enough fabric and dye to make millions more pink triangles!!!
Just question for yourselves,

HIV+, and Queer
Saying that a national health care plan is unconstitutional is one of those things that sounds like it means something without actually accomplishing it.
UNCONSTITUTIONAL.
Illegal under the Constitution.
Neither Congress nor the Senate nor the President are granted the power to legislate a National Health Care Bill!!!
As long as Civics is taught by far- left leaning Ideologues, our nation is doomed to reading statements such as Sara Bellums’ and voting in politicians that swear to protect and uphold the Constitution when they have no idea what the Constitution says.
@oddmanout,
Actually Congress is given the right to legislate on issues that are not prohibited by the constitution (or by some other law). That is in fact the whole reason for its existence.
As no real variant of a national health care plan is prohibited by the constitution, current citizens and lawmakers have every right to push for the national health care plan they desire.
More, I’m not really scared that trying to cover all citizens in some form will somehow slippery slope down to being branded with Nazi pink triangles.
