Cheney isn't a hero of mine but he has been involved enough in covert international manipulation to be aware of what our country's weak spots are. (that doesn't mean I support torture or keeping prisoners in Guantanamo). I believe he has helped create the present precarious world destabilization.

One of Cheney's concerns has been the fear that our country will experience a dirty bomb slipped into a major harbor(s). It's a possibility and a problem We have not adequately prepared for. I have read public figures state they are surprised it hasn't happened yet. Perhaps Obama might consider doing a Lincoln (Team of Rivals) with Cheney by putting him in a directorial position of working on homeland security. It could put him in our tent pissing out rather than pissing in. He might use his considerable talents/resources to assist the present administration rather than undermine it. Talents and resources should be emphasized. Conservatives are not the enemy and should not be silenced because they are no longer in the majority. If the pendulum stops swinging--worry.

One of our growing failures (it could be argued is a strength) as a nation is the way in which our citizenship is being divided into oppositional camps. (Red vs Blue states, conservative/liberal, democrat/republican. These are not all class divisions). The term "frenemies" comes to mind. Doesn't matter what the issue might be but we are tearing ourselves apart from the inside. Who needs outside enemies? A lot of the argument is irrational: the Fox News blather, the healthcare lies, choose your issue and it will be a mud fight. However, strategy such as drone bombing and targets need to be understood by the citizens that are financing them. If that information comes from a controversial "news" source, so be it.

Even though I don't agree with Fox News and understand the Obama camp wanting to un-include them from interviews I applaud the other news media standing up for this black sheep in the family. Some of the liberal media had experienced the same kind of discrimination during Bush's term. If we are closed off to learning something new even if from perceived enemies then we may be just knee-jerking.
