Justice Sotomayor aced her hearings. The Republicans couldn’t come up with a single logical reason not to confirm her. I for one believe that a closed door is finally opening for people like Sonia Sotomayor. That’s why she is very likely our first Latina justice on the Supreme Court. In my view, that door should never have been shut on the basis of race or gender – and I look forward to the day when it opens for openly LGBT people at every social and professional level.

Well I don’t care what your “Race” is, as there is only one Human Race anyways, everything else is just like religion, all man made… but whatever.

What I wanted to say was if you are an American and you are required to take a test or Prove you have a skill, then you better darn good well PASS or Prove it or you don’t get the job or make the team. PERIOD.

I am over lowering testing for whatever reason because the education level (including mine) has have to change to make everyone feel better. BullHockey, we should be raising “the bar” not lowering it.

I am multi racial as I had stated in past and I think Affirmative Action and some other programs of the like need to go! I like the old way of “work hard, learn, prove yourself” and you will earn what you deserve.

I can hear the screams through my computer from some reading my post and I don’t care.

I am just tired of the “race” bullcrap on ALL sides. I have seen it in so many forms and its not good across the board!

What really bothers me is how when it comes to straight up racism, people can make excuses. Affirmative Action doesn’t me that someone (Usually a white person) gets kicked in the pants so an idiotic minority can get a position. The minority has to be qualified as well. As a straight Latino, it always smarts when I see gays (Whom I support in their fight for civil rights) make excuses for racist behavior like it’s no big deal.

Go to the official NHL website and they have all the stats you can possibly imagine and more.

There are probably 5 players that are visible minorities playing in the NHL and NO women!

Sport relies on physical attributes which are a big part of what seperates one race from another…. so many a sport is dominated by one particular race over another.

IE: the Japanese basketball team.

if it doesn’t matter when the justices were appointed, then why is it such a big deal then about most of the ones til now being white males?? All that matters is that now all races are considered, but it doesn’t mean that we have to put them on just to prove they can be on, unless they don’t mind being tokens. For the record people, true equality means that sometimes the answer is no,, something tht jesse jackson and al sharpton do not ever want; it would put them out of a job. I want an answer to this question,, what if it had been a white male who said “i would expect a wise white man to reach a better decision than a wise latino”??? We all know what would have gone down,, he would have been lynched (and rightfully so); but becaue it’s a hispanic woman, it’s ok?? SORRY, a racist statement is a racist statement, no matter what race the speaker is, plain and simple.

Robin: When the individual justices were appointed isn’t relevant.

No one was willing to even consider a non-white-male for appointment until the civil rights movement came to a head. Whether that was 50 years ago, 100 years ago, 150 or 200 years ago is irrelevant.

warren: better get out your calculator. White men are absolutely in the the MINORITY in this country. I am a white woman and I know so. Add up all other races (male and female) and add us in … as being aagainst all these CHOSEN BY GOD white men..
