A boycott might not have much effect, but it won't benefit NBC and it certainly won't harm us. I long ago decided never to watch the NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams, because Williams is an unabashed admirer of Rush Limbaugh. How credible does that make Williams as a reporter? And, if I remember correctly, it was NBC that once seriously considered hiring Limbaugh as a permanent fixture in a political talk show. In the meantime, while we're boycotting, and to compensate for NBC's behavior, we can spread the uncensored news and video about Mitcham around the internet. At the very least, it might bolster the self-esteem of many young gays who haven't heard about him yet. For those who want to boycott NBC, I’m all for it. We do need to make a big deal out of his being gay, as he is the only out male contender. He fought his own self hatred and depression in his mind, and he had to let go of the fear of bigoted judges (they do exist). HE had to deal with his being separate and different from the other contenders (straights don't get this) and he also had to create his own loving support group since there wasn't one.
