Grey’s Anatomy’s T.R. Knight explains why he left the show

Ex-Grey’s Anatomy star and openly gay actor T.R. Knight talks about his departure from the hit ABC show in next week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly. Knight also opens up about being called a gay slur by Isaiah Washington and how Grey’s executive producer Shonda Rhimes suggested that he should not come out.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Knight left the show after having significantly less screen time than his co-stars this past season. Knight also cites a “breakdown of communication” between him and  Rhimes, who he claims is among those who discouraged him to come out.

“I think she was concerned about having my statement come out so close to the [initial] event,” said Knight.

Rhimes denies this claim, saying “I said, ‘If you want to come out, that’s awesome. We’ll totally support that.’”

The issue goes on stand Friday, July 24. Read a preview of the Entertainment Weekly article here.

    • Oh shut up. Not everything is a huge gay conspiracy. The show fired Isaiah Washington when he made a gay slur which I thought was over the top. Make him publicly apologize sure but fire him? I dont think that was necessary. They also have MAIN characters that are lesbians. Not many shows do that. And if Shonda Rhimes did advice him not to come out (which she denies) then I’m sure it was for his best interest not cause she’s so gay unfriendly.

    • I say BAN watching Grey’s Anatomy… it is NOT a gay friendly program!

Interesting Withers….. Shonda Rhimes is a black woman who wanted TR to deny his sexuality and to hide (read that as sit in the back of the bus).
