John, I agree and it has always hurt me, as a HUGE fan since I was a baby! Supposedly, Majel Barret (Gene’s wife) had suggested they add a gay character in the Next Generation, but the idea was nixed. Personally, I always wondered what REALLY happened to Tasha Yar (even though they did all they could to “PROVE” she was str8–yuk! What a waste!).

It sounds like it was an incredible service! WOW! Beautiful! I wish I was there. I am a HUGE trekkie and I will never forget the day I found out that Sulu was GAY! I was so thrilled!! I do wonder where Leonard was. Supposedly he was well liked by his fellow actors (I won’t discuss my favorite orginal, Billy Shatner).

Congratulations indeed.

However, I do feel the need to point out that the Star Trek franchise has never been inclusive of sexual minorities. In fact, their 24th century vision of California (and indeed the entire planet) has been apparently purged of any homosexual influence. Leaving “utopian paradise” safe for heterosexuality once and for all.
