Congratulations, Clay! You have made the brave leap into the unknown which so many of us wish we had the balls to make. It is fear of bitter reprisals from our families, our churches, and our employers which keeps us in this closet. It is the need for a steady paycheck and steady access to health insurance which forces our hand against our will. And yes, you’re right, because of our cowardice many of us continue to sell our souls to the devil every day. Clay is a hero for his honesty, and not just to his son but to the gay community and the world! You know, even knowing that there is a net below, for many people jumping is not easy. We must support the tottering baby steps of our great ones so that our little ones will likewise find the courage to speak out and to get out of the self-inflicted misery the closet represents. Thank you, Clay — and thank you to all who have joined him in defeating the closet. I know that “one day” I will finally choose to join you on the outside. Would that that day could be today! In the meantime, try to be more patient with those of us who are trapped in its violent, hate-filled, and abusive confines. We’ll surprise you, but one day we, like Clay, will find the courage to escape.

Hello? Does ANYbody remember the cover of Time (or was it People?) Magazine when Ellen came out? Almost the same headline; hers was “Yep, I’m Gay”. Doesn’t seem to be the excitement or earth shattering for Clay that Ellen generated oh-so-many years ago, but still good for him for adding the the celeb list. Hopefully one of these days it truly won’t matter…

I’m not even a bit shock about this news.

Everyone knew he is gay and he is in denial. I didn’t have to use my gaydar to know he is gay.

In other shocking news, the Pope today confirmed he is, indeed, Catholic. Seriously tho, kudos to Clay for making a stand and confirming what is really no one’s business but his own. I wish him and his son the best.

Put the Claws away ‘ladies’. Although I can understand some of you being catty, bottom line is, we all had to go through this one way or another; so cut Clay some slack.
