Clay is gay

Clay Aiken is finally confirming what many people already knew: He’s gay. The cover of the latest People magazine shows Aiken holding his infant son, Parker Foster Aiken, with the headline: “Yes, I’m Gay.” The cover also has the quote: “I cannot raise a child to lie or hide things.”

The magazine has an interview with Aiken and confirmed that he was on the cover but refused to release the article to The Associated Press until Wednesday.

The baby’s mother is Aiken’s friend and record producer Jaymes Foster.

Aiken, who gained fame as the runner-up on “American Idol” in 2003, rarely addressed the frequent rumors about his sexuality. In an interview with The Associated Press two years ago, he said: “I don’t really feel like I have anybody to answer to but myself and God and the people I love.”

The multiplatinum singer recently released the CD “On My Way Here” and made his Broadway debut this spring in “Monty Python’s Spamalot.”

    • I think the big shock will be if anyone on this entire planet is actually surprised by this admission… I mean, he has that uber-creepy Reba McEntire drag queen love child look going.

I do think his reasoning smacks of being a bit of a hypocrite. Apparently if he didn’t have the kid, he’d have been A-OK to keep cranking out his records while remaining so far in the closet that he’d be having tea every afternoon with Mr. Tumnus in Narnia?

Yeah, using the kid as an excuse to step up… That’s pretty weak.

    • oh who the hell CARES? What a stupid, chickenshit little piece of work. Too bad his kid will be raised by a dad who looks like KD Lang with bad hair (and I LOVE KD Lang).

The only good part of this story is that it will DEVASTATE all the ClayMates…LOL

    • Frankly, I am sick of artists who come out as their careers are rapidly fading -as if they are doing some noble gesture -when in reality, they are using the disclosure of their homosexuality as their very last ditch effort at getting media attention. You know what Clay – I couldn’t care less if you are gay or not. I never liked your music and I don’t consider you a role model – just an opportunist.

    • It must have been a hard decision for him. But, I’m glad that he decided to come out. His decision helps all of us. Now if only ___ and ___ would come out.

    • In honor of the least effective cover-up since Watergate, I offer the following: My fellow Americans, our long national nightmare is over.

    • Butch! For a second I mistook him for a woman with his longish hairstyle and soft-looking, roundish face. Then I saw his name and then I knew he was a man. He has a sweet-looking, gentle and kind face.

    • Good for him. And that’s the right decision regarding giving good values to his kid.

And Clay’s coming out should help the world grow up a little, too.

    • Well thank God already. Now maybe everyone will stop talking about it.
