Bob Witeck: Vital access to the President’s ear
08.20.2008 11:54pm EDT
For 10 years, I worked on Capitol Hill and happened to be a U.S. Senate staff colleague with Josh Bolten, current White House Chief of Staff. While we do not share many agreements on politics or public policy, Bolten’s job today is among the most strategic appointments a President can make.
When LGBT leaders are named to the White House staff under the next Democratic President, this would be the dream fit.By serving as Presidential chief of staff, the LGBT incumbent would have vital and immediate access to the President’s ear – along with direct responsibilities for senior staff and Cabinet relationships.
I can think of few roles with more key policy responsibilities and influence for positive good for the United States.
