A talented LGBT person who was named Secretary of State would address discriminatory immigration policies that prevent gays and lesbians from sponsoring their partners, repeal Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell through the National Security Council and challenge homophobia and transphobia – whether by Mugabe in Zimbabwe or the execution of two gay young people three years ago in Iran.

Obama will be a shining light, changing America’s world standing, and having someone from our community in the forefront with him markedly advances human rights and equality for LGBTs around the globe.
