And She Thought She'd Never Be On The View Again...
“Let me just say this!” Being a good gay and all, I love Kathy Griffin, but I've been loving her even more lately! First off, you should probably watch the premiere episode of the new season of My Life on the D-List on Bravo’s Web site ASAP.
It’s amazing, of course, and I’m glad Bravo appreciated that some of us can’t wait until the show officially premieres on June 5, along with Kathy’s new standup special, “Everyone Can Suck It.” Waiting for that is hard enough, and I’ve re-viewed all of her other standup shows so many times, the prospect of a new one is very welcome.
But anyway, Kathy’s been busy lately! Since Rosie’s early departure from The View, the whole drama of which I cannot get enough of, even though I’m sure most everyone else has, Kathy has co-hosted the morning show twice, and supposedly producers are tossing her name around as a possible Rosie replacement. I’d be all for that!
She was so great on the episode following the infamous feud because she just would not drop it. (And she looks way skinny!)
Watch it here. She even stands up to Barbara!
I love that she and Rosie are friends too; Kathy actually said Rosie quit early because of the split-screen during her argument and that, for the record, Rosie doesn’t hate Elizabeth Hasselbeck. Hmm…I’m not quite sure I buy that one, but maybe, Kathy.
Check out this interview she gave the Dallas Voice last week too. Kathy talks a lot about Rosie, of course, and how she told her buddy, Lance Bass, that Reichen was a d*** way before he cheated. Kathy knows her gays, Lance.
In the interview, she also talks about her father’s death, which I actually didn’t know about. And I'm very up on her life. Poor Kathy – I’m so impressed that after her divorce and after this, she’s still going strong. And she’s still touring!
Apparently her dad died right when Anna Nicole did, so it wasn’t really news-worthy at the time. Maybe it wouldn’t have made the news at all either way, but I guess that explains why I never heard about it.
But anyway! I wish only the best for Kathy...and I know where I'll be next Tuesday!

Great Scots! The Twilight Sad Revs Up
Even if you’re not the least bit curious about the sport of racecar driving, you may still be interested in the likely inspiration for “My Friend Dario,” that swift single from French impresario, Vitalic.
And in recognition of Scotsman Dario Franchitti, who won the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday and was speedily embraced by his rain-drenched wife, Ashley Judd, it seems fitting to issue another Critically Acclaimed Scottish Band Alert Holler.
Yes, that redundant attempt at a clever acronym would be CASBAH. And this one rocks, too.
Based outside Glasgow, The Twilight Sad craft moody, epic tunes from emotional layers that plunge more deeply than Carl Jung on a spelunking vacation. On their debut LP, Fourteen Autumns and Fifteen Winters, swirling guitars swell, and then crash into a dreamy wall of noise not heard since the shoe-gazer heyday of bands like Lush and Curve, influenced by My Bloody Valentine.
Singer James Graham’s thick, Scottish brogue makes the tunes all the more mysterious, and credible, even if he is just tsk tsk-ing, “Where are your manners?” as he does on the first single, “Cold Days from the Birdhouse.”
This summer, The Twilight Sad will cast their shadow on the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago on July 14 and on the Siren Festival on July 21 at Coney Island, that seaside bastion of all things strange, in Brooklyn, New York.
Siren songs aside, the boardwalk bumper cars and bearded ladies at Coney Island’s legendary Astroland amusement park are in their own sad twilight as this season is their swan song. The Twilight Sad should make just the right waves of a weird, gloomy goodbye. -Julie Bolcer
