Themenstruator,

If you dislike Obama because you think he's not a citizen of the United States, then you are refusenik.

As for my friends and their voting habits, I'm close to folk all over the political spectrum.

Sincerely,

James

@ Themenstruator:

Not liking him is one thing -- and I can respect that. But dragging on an absolutely ridiculous issue because of personal opinion shows only narrow-mindedness and a desire to accomplish one's goals at any and all costs. Frankly, I've stopped reading up on the developments of the case because it's just plain infuriating to see so much stupidity clumped up into one place.

As far as I see it (and I could be wrong, since I don't live in the US) this would have been less of an issue if the main agitators in this thing (the radical right wingnuts) hadn't found other issues in regards to Mr. Obama with which to contend (his socially progressive stance, his politics, his skin color, perhaps -- though I'm one of those few idealists who would like to think that racism is no longer a factor...). From where I stand, it's quite clear: the idea of this man as the next President of the United States gives them nightmares, so they're using every trick and subterfuge in the book in order to cast doubt over his eligibility. If you ask me, it's a thoroughly disgusting tactic -- and one quite frowned upon here in Europe, where the general consensus seems to be that a group of fellows who are very behind-the-times have nothing better to do with their existences but make complete and utter idiots of themselves.

So I don't like Obama, I am a refusenik? Would you say the same about someone who doesn't like rape? They are are a refusenik? The democratic party has let the country down. I have defected to Independent, and I get called a refusenik for standing up for what I believe in and my own personal agenda? Nice.
I wonder what you call people who actually like the smug bastard... oh, your friends.

People will never cease on their witch hunt of this man. They know absolutely no bounds, I mean seriously, the man was born of an American mother who was an American citizen. If I go to London and give birth is my child not an American? Is he or she British because I gave birth to them while on vacation?

These folk need something other than the 9/11 conspiracy to keep them busy.

Everyone should know by now that Obama is the President Elect. Let us all look forward to 2012 and hope that Obama does not do to much damage to the gay community. Maybe in 2012 we will have a candidate that believes in equality for all American citizens.

It will never cease to amaze me how during the campaign college educated people would make bizarre comments about Obama. But then again when you examine Sara Palin's comments her constituency was certainly more than willing to believe just about anything. What surprised me was the number of gay men I heard agreeing. When pressed on the subject or challenged it often times became clear that an element of out and out racism was at work. He still won and America is an amazing place.
