Vanasco: Pro-Prop 8 donor list up

By Jennifer Vanasco 02.02.2009 1:11pm EST

Here’s what we’ve been waiting for – a full list of those who gave money to support Prop 8. We’re going through the names now.

Here are the names that were just released today.

I’d love to hear if there are people on the list whom you know personally or professionally, or if you’ve patronized their establishments.

    • I have Posted the site on My Facebook, My Space, and sent it out on the web. I feel, if you can give money to a cause, then you should be able to stand up and say “yes I did” or “No I Did Not”. I have always said, “You can’t hide your secrets forever.”

    • Alexa’s right. This is very misleading/incorrect.

    • FINALLY! Thank you all very much. I am shareing this list with all my patients and my family and friends. Now we can really get to work.

    • El Torito, El Pollo Loco, Taco Bell, Knights of Columbus, and Manchester Financial Group all donated to Yes on 8.

    • This amounts to nothing more than a tool for persecuting those who have opposing views than yours. Already you can see from the responses of some posters here what they’re planning to do with this list, harass those on it. As someone of the many concerned citizens who made a donation based on my principles and morals I find this list highly disturbing. I hope the state of California bans this sort of vehicle for witch -hunting social conservatives.

    • Why not focus more on big business boycotts, really organize for that and come down on Churches that get tax write offs but insist on making political donations.

    • It’s one thing to know what business contributed to that campaign, but I’m down on listing individuals who donated a hundred or so. Yes it was wrong for them to donate to that, but the need to drag them out into the townsquare just feels a bit witch-hunty to me. I say let those who really feel they need to know go searching for the info themselves. But linking the list to a news headline—-that just feels like by focusing on this long list of names of “offenders” and “outting them” we’re not really coming off as the good guys.

    • Who is Cha Cha Caster?
Sounds like the Caster Family pet donated!

    • This list is missing many, many people. I know the owner of the Lotta Burger chain in NM gave $10,000. He isn’t listed here…

    • All I can say is thank the universe that I live in Canada, where I don’t have to deal with this crap.

    • For me, the worst thing is seeing the name, or names of someone whom I “thought” supported me!
I’ll be writing them a brief note telling them exactly how I feel!
      Know thy enemy!

    • This list can also be sorted by clicking on the state, city, zip etc. – which makes for easier searching.

    • I just looked in CT too and my neighbor, from when I grew up (still my Mother’s neighbor) is on the list. What would someone in a rural town in Western CT have to do with prop 8? Bigotry knows no bounds.

      He’s getting a card from me soon….

    • Ms. Vanasco,

The link only details the donors of one campaign committee. There are 11 different committees which supported Prop 8.

Please change the misleading statement of this link being a full listing.

    • I was amazed at how many people there were from my home state of Connecticut. There is even a teacher from my daughter’s school. Wow!
