I'm marrying my partner of five and a half years in Massachusetts then having a church wedding in FL where there are no rights. I've seen so many changes since the first march on Washington that I went to in 1987 as a young girl. Each generation paves the way for the ones that follow. I'm so grateful for those that carried the torch before me and those that carry the torch today. It may seem like three steps forward and two steps back but at least we get in a step. Look how far we have come. It's a tough road sometimes. I have known hate. I have known discrimination. Both have touched my life over the years. I return it with kindness no matter what in the hopes that people will say hey that person was pretty nice. Maybe a gay person isn't so bad after all. I'll walk this road till I die praying that one day we are free to love and marry and have the full protections under the constitution. I pray I see that day before my footprints on this earth end.
