I'm so excited. As a gay Australian, the LGBTIQ community in my country are also denied marriage equality and with more and more U.S states granting marriage equality to same sex couples its placing more and more pressure on the federal australian government to pass marriage equality.

Go Maine.

I'm proud to have been just a little cog in the wheel - phone banking for Maine Equality.

There really is a tipping point, our religious extremists are being recognized for what they are - corrupt. What a difference in our nation's morality a good President makes, vs having Satan himself sitting in the oval office.

But now is not the time to relax. It will take years more to get a large percentage of the states to have gay marriage, and change the culture of hatred that spills out of backwards looking, egomanical churches seeking total control and power.

And one of the things that is happening is the religious right is trying to find a formula that sounds less hatefull, but still drives their message. Rev Warren all but said so, and the Catholic church is very carefully picking words to "blame the victim" while seeming more progressive.

Look out for words like Personhood, choice, the children, etc to become the new charged words from their mouths.

BTW - personhood is their attempt to blame not the gay for being gay, but to blame their "behavior choice". In other words they will say "we love you", but this is just the old Christian trick of blaming you for choosing to be gay, rather then attacking you directly. They are the masters of doublespeak Just a new twist on the old story.

And "personhood" is also part of their campaign to end abortion, by driving laws that make a fertilized egg from the moment of conception into a legal person. Probably with the idea that they can throw into prison for life anyone who gets or does an abortion.

And if they get that, they are on the way to creating a new (un)Holy Roman Empire, where the corrupted church combined with corrupt kings to give the world the 1000 years of the dark ages. And outlawing prophalactics and birth control, etc etc.

And if you think about reparative therapy, that really is just doublespeak for what they hope will become mandatory religious conversion to their beliefs re homosexuality.
