The rumor: McCain’s Chief of Staff is gay
Since last night, we here at 365gay have been following the spiraling story of Mark Buse, John McCain’s chief of staff.
Mike Rogers at BlogActive and Michelangelo Signorile released evidence of Buse’s gayness last night, citing “unnamed sources” plus a man who claims to be Buse’s ex-boyfriend, Brian Davis.
Today, the blogopshere has been on fire.
We try not to out people here, which is why we didn’t report on it earlier. But once the Miami Herald’s Steve Rothaus posted about it, we felt that we should at least alert readers.
Why is this important? Because Mark Buse is not a celebrity. He is a political figure who is one of the most important advisors to a man running for President – a man who does not support ENDA, the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Act, gay marriage or civil unions, gay and lesbian adoption, or the ending of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.

Typical Republican Hypocrisies at its finiest;someone try explaining to the Gay Republicans that they’re not liked on that side of the fence and they need to bring there fannies back to were it’ll make a difference. They need to stop kidding them selves…I wonder if this will damage McShame’s numbers in the polls, only one could HOPE…
Is it possible that Mark Buse, John McCain’s Chief of Staff, tapped a message with his shoe to Larry Craig at an airport John? Maybe, when he had to do a campaign trip to Craig’s Idaho. Why are so many closet cases attracted to the right wing of the Republican Party? Does it have something to do with self-loathing as a gay person?
only a self-loathing [gay] to work for the GOP. only a self-loathing woman would vote for McLame because of Palin. and only self-loathing African-American wouldn’t support Obama. wake up people! the GOP has done nothing but feed into those who are ashamed of themselves.
During apartheid, many of the abuses committed against the black majority in South Africa were perpetrated by collaborators. Obviously, there weren’t enough able bodied white males to control the country, since they only made up 5-6% of the population. And given the fact that the country was at war with practically all of its neighbors, they were needed elsewhere. So, what the government did was fill the lower ranks of the police force with the most greedy, unscrupulous black thugs they could find.
You can always find those who’d sell their soul for a badge and baton…or a tax cut on dividends…
Psychologists tell us that some of the worst gaybashers/homophobes are actually gay themselves. It’s called internalized homophobia. It requires self-introspection and a heightened level of consciousness that many of us here already have, but that many more do not. It’s sad when gay people in positions of power say and do things that further hamper the extension of rights and freedoms to lgbt people.
Let’s see… McCain takes gay advisors…
Obama takes ex-gay advisors… *ahem*Donnie McClurkin*ahem*
Which is worse?
TCS, you are actually seeming to forget that Republicans don’t care about hypocrisy. Otherwise, why would they still be Republicans? Honestly.
