Shannon Minter and Krysten Sinema
State Rep. Krysten Sinema:
Arizona has 12 gay delegates – from a state that sent 60 delegates total (!)
“We are the only state to successfully defeat an anti-gay ballot measure. These are the lessons we learned:
“1. Message. We have learned how to research and find the messages that resonate with swing voters who are not already part of our base.
“2. Messengers. I hope that everyone in this room will join us as messengers to deliver the message to swing voters in targeted states.
3. Our third M is money. Outside these doors the radical right is scared to hell about the people in this room. because they are scared of you and me, they will fight tooth and nail to keep what they have. We need to raise and spend the kind of money that they have spent over the years. We are going to do it again in 2008. The bastards brought it up again. The truth is our opponents know that their time is ending and ours is coming.
“Arizona, Florida and California are fighting marriage bans and each of those needs your support.
“Arkansas is facing an adoption ban and we must defeat it. Maryland is facing an effort to restrict the rights of transgender individuals. And this will spread across the country as our foes realize they are losing on marriage.”
