Ruby-Sachs: Who can guess what side of the marriage debate FOX News is on?

By Emma Ruby-Sachs, 365gay blogger 11.12.2008 4:42pm EST

A few hours ago the FOX News website posted a story about a little old lady beaten by gay protesters. The story, with almost no factual content, seems just a little biased against the LGBT rally attendees. It doesn’t, unfortunately, say much about why the little old lady was present carrying a huge cross on her back.

    • Why concentrate on the few people who screwed up when there are thousands more people doing something much more newsworthy than stealing a bigoted woman’s cross. Can’t believe this is what passes as journalism.

    • Nice try, but the resurrecting the FOX bogeyman right now ain’t gonna cut it.

    • Ruby-Sachs, once again you are on the wrong side. It’s time to demonstrate and show America and the World that we will be listened to and reckoned with.

Maybe you have not noticed, but two young ladies have been able to assist in organizing better than – HRC, Log Cabin, Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians or a dozen other gay organizations.

Stop attempting to distract people from the greater cause.

    • The little old lady was trying to incite a riot. It was plain to she that she got off on the negative attention. The poor old dear could probably needs a good f*ck and being verbally abused is as close as she gets. (There’s your quote Bill OReilly.)

While those who took her cross and smashed it should be prosecuted for assault and vandalism, she should consider herself lucky to have emerged unscathed after doing something so patently stupid.

    • Let see how “safe” a White person holding a burning cross, while wearing a Klan hood and white sheet, would be at a Black civil rights protest after Blacks just lost a fundamental right due to a bigot-driven referendum vote on their Equality. I’d say she was very lucky to just have her stupid sign vandalized.

    • FOX News is notorious for providing immediate, “breaking” coverage on any issue stirring – whether or not they have the facts. Rumors will suffice for their justification to air an issue.

In this day and age, this blatant type of discrimination is pathetic. No person should have the ability to forbid another from the freedoms the majority enjoy.

After having dealt with Christian fundamentalists approaching me as I walk to synagogue, heatedly attempting to convince me I am “going to hell,” it is apparent these people have a deep-seated cult mentality. In short, their cheese has slipped off their cracker. One cannot reason with people who are mentally unstable anymore than one can teach a pig to sing.

As Americans, we are entitled to live – all as one, with laws designed to protect us, not forbid our freedoms.

I wish the LGBT community strength and perseverance in their cause. None of our freedoms were ever won overnight.

    • If in fact this woman was attacked, the attackers are just as bad as the people they are protesting. In fact, they are worse because they know better.

On the other hand, wasn’t FAUX news the one who broke the story about the girl claiming an Obama supporter carved a B in her face?
