After watching the video of Jon Stewart interviewing Huckabee about gay marriage, I wonder how the argument against gay marriage can still be given with a straight face. Huckabee, even Huckabee, has trouble justifying the traditional definition of marriage. Watch for the last three minutes where the real debate, between sexuality as a choice and as an identity happens. Brilliantly, Jon Stewart points out that you likely have more choice in religion than in sexuality.
Check out the movie. It’s a pretty great moment.
The only thing I thought Jon Stewart did wrong was to let Fuckaby off with using a poll percentage as evidence of CIVIL RIGHTS!..If he wanted to do that he should have at least rebutted with an ‘old man like I am joke’ and thrown back the fact that 70% of those UNDER 35 voted against Prop H8…all we have to do is wait for the geezers to die! (….and I was born during WWII..you figure it!)
Huckabee is a brain-dead Suthren Babdist (sic) preacher. It was really unkind of Jon Stewart to duel with the intellectually unarmed (snicker!).
It has been PROVEN that religious fanaticism IS a neurological PATHOLOGY (i.e., it’s SICK).
WE should be concerned that the Suthren Babdist (sic) “church” is either the largest or the second-largest protestant denomination in the US.
Debating them on women’s rights or GLBTQ rights is a waste of time and money.
They only JUST apologized for SLAVERY (with their fingers crossed … you will STILL hear sermons about “keeping the Nigra in his place”), and you CERTAINLY won’t see any African-Americans in WHITE Suthren Babdist (sic) “churches.”
The Suthren Babdist (sic) “church” was FOUNDED to uphold SLAVERY *and* separation of the races *and* the subjugation of “dark” races (”mud people”) as GOD’S WILL.
Do you REALLY think they give a rosy red rat’s rectum about OUR constitutional rights??!! The *devil* created us, just like “uppity Nigras” and “uppity women.”

They’re closing their parochial preschools and daycare centers “so women will have to stay home where they belong.”

Goddess FORBID that little Bubba be sent to a SECULAR school where he might actually LEARN something besides “kids rode on dinosaurs” and “the Earth is only 5,000 years old.”

I suppose inbreeding and toxic chemicals in “moonshine” might be to blame, at least in part (Suthren Babdists [sic] keep their ’shine under the kitchen sink so the preacher won’t see it when he comes to Sunday dinner). Marrying a United Methodist is considered a “mixed marriage,” and frowned upon.
I grew up around these folks in the DEEP South. They ARE certifiable, and ‘mongous HYPOCRITES to boot.
But we already KNEW that.

Americans are fucking stupid, that’s how. The argument against equality is not justifiable to us, but the idiotic majority buys it lock, stock, and barrel.
