The sad reality is that the GLBT community playing it nice hasn't resulted in very much of any gains for us over the past few decades. More sattes enacted DOMA acts, there are STILL NO Federla protections for GLBT people and while we certainly pay more than our fair share of taxes we are most definitely NOT treated as equal citizens. I think the anger and outrage is more than justified. Whiel I don't condone violence - sometimes, when "rising above" does you no good, you have to fight at the same level. Mormons crying the "victim" here is laughable. They're a big bunch of screwy nut-jobs who make catholics look sane (quite an accomplishment). They wanted a battle - now they've got it, and if they don't like it - too f@cking bad!

I'm glad there are so many people willing to force tolerance on the majority. You see I'm in love and am not allowed to marry. It may be unconventional to marry a Llama but that is how God made me so please pave the way for that and persecute all who have different opinions. You see people are only open minded if they agree with me!

This religion got involved in states that didn't pertain to where they reside. They were the largest donars in Florida and California...they have discriminated against people of color until 1978 when a prophet got a vision. right now they are trying to use our community as a scape goat to be liked and accepted by other religions. they are are getting what they deserve.

**It sure as hell wasn't the Atheists that voted and donated for Prop 8**

If we are going to be a "community" ouselves then you HOLIER THAN THOU QUEENS need to learn that NOT all in the LGBT community are "God Fearing Christias" I am so over it, some of you are just a Pious as the same folks that are kicking the living shit out of you while you are down! What do you need to wake you up?

I like all GAYS and LESBIANS that love and respect themselves and their being, their minds and community. THAT INCLUDES the Athiests, Agonists, etc....

I want to be part of an America that leaves Religion out of mine and others lives. If you are being "good" then Your God will treat you "good" right, so then leave me alone!

The day I walked away from the Catholic Church is the day I truly felt FREE!

FREE at Last O mighty God I am FREE at last!

Generally speaking, it is neither the Mormon-on-the-street nor the Catholic-in-the-pew who is our enemy. The MAJORITY of Catholics, for example, voted for Barack Obama -- much to the displeasure of many of their bishops. The "People of God" are coming around to our way of looking at things, largely because they are beginning to realize that we are their sons, their daughters, their ministers, their doctors, their teachers, and so on. The more they know us, the more they respect us. Remember: we've come a LONG way in a very short time!

The real enemy here is the leadership of these churches. "Bishop" comes from an ancient Greek word meaning "mindless baffoon." No, no, scratch that. Lame attempt at humor. But the truth isn't too far off that mark. The leadership of most churches is frightened of loss of power, loss of revenue, loss of prestige, loss of most of those things which they tell the rest of us to avoid. The bishops will not change. Maybe one or two here or there understand, but out of fear for their jobs they will remain silent -- as will the majority of the Roman Catholic and Morman clergy. A large percentage of both those clergies are secretly on our side and are working behind the scenes to advance our cause -- but they must do so secretly, silently, for fear of losing what little security they have.

It is not the Morman People or the Catholic People -- or the lower clergy -- who are our enemy. It is the bishops and the other leaders who have traded the Word of God for their own arrogant, self-serving and self-righteous agenda. It grieves me to hear that so many of the LGBT community have given up on God: God is not the enemy.

Want proof?: Keep watching the Catholic Church and the Morman Church too, for that matter. The bishops have completely lost their moral authority. It is time for the People of God to assert THEIR authority -- and that time is quickly coming. From the crumbling structures of the past the new Church will be born. It's happening already -- may God hasten the day.

Ramon: If you want to fight against one group at a time, I would suggest going for the Catholic Church. It is an anti-LGBT force in every state in the union and many other countries in Europe and the Americas. The Mormons, by comparison, are a minor force, chiefly active in Utah, and they are disliked and distrusted by everyone else. Yes, they gave millions, but would they have done so without the Catholic invitation? The Catholic Church is the main culprit in the Prop 8 debacle.

The Episcopal church is splitting, but 90-95% of its churches will stay with the progressive wing, which has triumphed in having women priests (one of the diocese that left is the only one without same).

And good catholics will have a church to join which in many ways is similar to Catholicism, but is so far advanced vs the monstrosity that sits in Rome, living in the dark ages. When the church murdered 50 million Muslims in the name of God during the crusade, and burned a million women as witches. They also fostered the hatred of the Jews, which gave hitler the lever to gain absolute power and give the world 70 million deaths and WWII.

If you are Catholic, you need to find another church, of which the liberal branches of the episcopal church are similar, but not with the abominable sins of the church of Rome.

And then you also can say "free at last, free at last, thank God Almighty we are free at last. And thank Dr. King's memory for helping you, as well as America's Black citizens.

ROB ROBERGE SAID:"A few years ago, All Saints Episcopal Church in Pasadena was threatened with the loss of their IRS tax exemption because the pastor, from the pulpit, asked parishioners not to vote for Geo. W. Bush."

Not true. The retired rector, The Rev'd Dr. George Regas, simply asked the congregation, "for whom would Jesus vote?"

That's a LONG way from telling people not to vote for DUHbya.

All Saints' has a LONG history of advocacy for LGBT people and other minorities, going back to protesting the internment of Japanese-American citizens during WWII (to the point of lying down on the railroad tracks to stop the trains).

They are BY NO MEANS equivalent to the Mormon or Roman PAGAN FERTILITY CULTS.

DON'T attack our FRIENDS!

Why does the state of Utah have such a high suicide and depression rate - the simple answer is the total control of people demanded by their church. The suicides are probably mostly gay people, who dare not come out, less they be disowned not just by the church but by their family and the only community they have ever known.

They are Like the Catholic church - it is all about power, control, and money. God is nothing to those in control but a lever for what really is evil incarnate.

We should pray that their people wake up, reject the control and use of hatred against aa minority that they use to solidify their position. As an example, 94% of Catholics use artificial birth control despite what the church teaches. We need a campaign that helps people see through the terrorism of these churches, the false promises of life beyond death, and the great power grab that they use, eg that they can absolve you of your sins.

And we are not far from the Episcopal church - 90% or more of it being gay supportive, becoming a haven for Catholics who really believe that Jesus life was about helping the poor and despised of His time. The exact opposite of the heirarchy of the catholic church. Run by a group of old people who haven't had an original idea since they were a child and their church crushed their mentality.

And for the Mormons, isn't the final proof of the monstrosity that that church is, that they use hate in the name of God against a minority, forgetting that they ended up in Utah to escape exactly the same kind of persecution from other religious groups back in the 1800s. Final proof of how these religions are in so many ways cults, run by those for whom pure power over others is their true and hateful God.
