Ruby-Sachs: Miss California in the Courts

I had really been missing me some Prejean.
About a month ago, reports circulated that the former Miss California was looking to file a discrimination suit against the Miss California organization. Then everyone quickly scurried away into mediation and I worried that we would never get the juicy details of their conflict.
Well, I was wrong. The only person who seems to have disappeared in Donald Trump (not named in the suit perhaps because he settled in the interim months). Because yesterday it was all over Twitter that Prejean has actually filed her suit and named the corporation in charge of Miss California along with Moakler, Lewis and their publicist.
The best part is that she is claiming religious discrimination and charging that Moakler and Lewis conspired with Perez Hilton to discriminate against her for her christian beliefs.
The suit will likely go nowhere. The damage caused to Prejean’s career a) is likely not really considered damage since it catapulted her profile in the American pop scene and b) was also likely causally related to her comments and the reaction they garnered from the public rather than the fact that the Miss California people fired her for refusing to appear at events. But the suit will bring her much publicity just in time for her upcoming book.
The conclusion: every time this woman opens her mouth she does damage to that part of American politics that pretends to be decent and rational and still believes that gay marriage is a travesty. She is a polarizing figure at a time when it would help to have people choose sides. And… she’s really entertaining.
Welcome back Carrie!

I’m kind of wondering how well-reported the outcome of the lawsuit will be.
My estimate is there’s a 99% chance she will lose the case if it actually goes to court. I’m wondering what the chance of it getting dismissed before it even gets that far is.
I suspect Prejean’s case will, like SCO in the Linux cases, continue to be pursued at all levels in the court system, forever. It’s more beneficial for her to continue to try litigation than it is for her to simply accept the reality that people who don’t do their jobs get fired.
Please everyone, remember in this great U.S.A.(and California especially) anyone can sue anyone. But over 90% of these malicious suits are thrown out (except for lawyer’s fees.)
Amusing,, complain about Ms Prejean getting publicity and yet, go out of your way to give her some news coverage. Ever hear of live and let live? You want those against gays to do it, but you won’t follow suit.
She’s trying to turn her 15 minutes into a career. What is missing from her and her supporters is acknowledgment of the fact that she pretended to preach her X-tian morals and values while strutting around on a stage in a bikini for people to ogle her body. Oh, pu-leeze! If she trys hard enough, she may get to replace that old hagged former beauty queen on the 700 club and sit next to Patty Robertson with her mouth hanging open and shake her head in shocked disbelief at whatever he is commenting on. You go Prejean!
When she looses this BS lawsuit I hope that she is required to pay the defendants legal fees. Then that would be the end of her 15 minutes.
