Ruby-Sachs: Learning more about Ayers and Dohrn
My little mention of the investigations into Ayers and Dohrn sparked an email from a reader that pointed me towards the full story behind these new calls for retribution.
Turns out that the push for prosecution is coming not only from the police union, but from an organization called America’s Survival. In fact, America’s Survival has produced a number of “reports” about the activities of Ayers and Dohrn. I put reports in quotes because the content of these diatribes are often quite disturbing. Many open with outright criticisms of President Obama and then accuse Ayers and Dohrn of being “radicals” (which I’m pretty sure they are, proudly) and argue that Ayers travels frequently to Venezuela in furtherance of a kind of Communist plot:
“The evidence shows not only that Ayers and Dohrn were involved in a terrorist movement that engaged in violence, bombings and murder, but that they are still politically and ideologically active in an organization dedicated to moving the U.S. towards a Marxist future. That organization is the little-known Movement for a Democratic Society (MDS).”
If you weren’t already wondering about the agenda of this organization – almost all of its funding comes from the Carthage Foundation (one of the Scaife foundations) that donates solely to conservative causes.
The allegations in this push for prosecution go on to implicate Noam Chomsky, Naomi Klein, George Soros and others of furthering a Communist agenda in the United States and single-handedly planning the destruction of Israel.
You should link through to these documents. They are truly entertaining.
The point is that, while I still don’t agree with the resurrection of the prosecution of Ayers and Dohrn, I hope that no one from the Justice Department will be inclined to take this group seriously. Moreover, I wonder about the San Francisco Police Officers Association. Do they know who they are in bed with?

Let me clarify this? You’re saying that since the calls are coming from fringe groups that they are any less valid? So say some fringe group calls for investigation into a serial killer. Does that mean that the calls for investigation are less valid?
Ruby-Sachs, I know you’re a far left liberal. That’s fine if it makes you happy. But honestly, you really need to form a better argument here.
