It’s coming down the line. . . judges looking at equal protection, civil rights, and rationale of all manner of measures that deny equal rights. Hooray for this most recent judge in Florida having the backbone to tell the voters that they have no basis for these types of discrimination. I hope this gives the California Supreme Court the decisiveness to void Prop. 8 since neither the electorate nor the legislature has the right to vote to deny anyone civil rights even it the vote is 100% in favor of discriminating. If all of the gay married couples that got married in California along with straight friends fund the legal challenges to this measure, I think that they can raise more money than was initially raised for “No on 8″. Hopefully the best attorneys who can articulate the arguement for equal protection, it will give judges no choice but to rule against discriminatory laws or voter initiatives. I must say that I am surprised in the Black community, who were discriminated against for so long, are NOT jumping in to help us with our battle for equality. This country is based on civil rights, not whether or not you personally agree with every issue, especially if it is something they don’t believe that they should participate in for religious reasons. In every battle, may love win. There is far too much pain, suffering, and hatred in this world.
