Ruby-Sachs: A Follow-Up on Visibility
While giving a carte blanche to corrupt gay politicians is never a good idea, I stand by the assertion that gay representation might be sufficiently important at this juncture that some may advocate for any representative, even if their other political ideas aren’t popular.
There is no easy answer to this question and, to provide more fodder, Equal Rep is starting a campaign to have a gay replacement for Richardson.
Fred Hochberg, former deputy administrator of the Small Business Administration, former member of Clinton’s Management Council and current Agency Team Leader for the transition team, is also openly gay.
Equal Rep’s founder, Paul Sousa, points out that there is no gay representative in Obama’s cabinet and urges the President-Elect to act on the fact that LGBT people are “only minority group to have never been appointed in the history of the United States. Fred Hochberg is supremely qualified and this opening is the perfect opportunity for our President-elect to show gay Americans they have not been forgotten and he is truly committed to equal representation.”

Not forgotten by Saint Obama?
Heck! He appointed a gay to an honorary position! What more do we want!?!?
The Anointed One did announce he would like Brad Kiley to serve as head of the White House Office of Management & Administration! Man! Who would have thought we would have achieved such heights!?!?!
An excellent suggestion! This speaks to our need to be a part of any discussion involving our country. Has no gay/lesbian been qualified to serve in these posts in the past?
