Meet the delegates
Chris Porter from Seattle is talking. He says, “I am a black gay male, out and proud.”
He said when he realized there aren’t enough people who looked like him at the caucus that there’s “more for me to do.” He said what is absent in the dialogue in the African American caucus is dialogue about fighting homophobia in that community. Stonewall, he says, “Let’s me know I’m never alone when I stand up.
Evan Lo - “a 25 year old gay Asian American from California.” who just came back from the Asian and Pacific Islander caucus
He says, “This is the most energetic caucus I’ve seen. Imagine all the potential we could do collectively and collaboratively. We need to thank our straight allies who are in this room, and we must focus and invest on the future.”
He says that he received hate mail in the Silicon Valley district he represents when he first ran for office – people said they didn’t want someone who would represent “Chinese interests or homosexual interests.”
