Julie, thanks for posting the announcement. The point is about accurately reporting what another new sources reports– specifically in the area of who is being nominated or promoted as a priest.

It’s great the church is all-inclusive. That has nothing to do with the fact that this particular report involves gay men and lesbians ONLY.

Those who purport to report the news cannot simply “throw in” bisexual and transgender when they have nothing to do with a story simply to appease a vocal minority who want a “parity” agenda.

St. Mark’s Marriage Equality group is proud to announce that at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church (1725 N. New Hope Rd. Raleigh, NC 27604 919-231-6767)on Sunday, August 9, at 9:30 AM, James Joiner, a postulant for Holy Orders in the NC diocese, will speak (in room CLC-1) about his experience at General Convention as an Integrity witness. James will report on where Integrity (a group within the Episcopal church that advocated for inclusion of all people in all sacrements and blessings) stands post-convention, and specifically the group’s stance on Resolution CO56 entitled “Liturgies for Blessings”, and how St. Mark’s can participate in gathering liturgical resources for same-sex blessings.

St. Mark’s Marriage Equality group will sponsor this presentation. (A light breakfast will be offered.)

James has been invited by Lorraine and Jim to preach at both services that day—8:30 and 10:30.

The New York Times article says nothing about “LGBT” priests.

The Times heading reads “Episcopal Church Picks Gay Priests for Promotion” and describes the promotion of openly GAY and LESBIAN priests.

The article makes NO MENTION of bisexual or transgendered people.

You would do your readers a great service if you would accurately report what another source says.

Bisexuals and transgendered people have nothing to do with this particular article.

Therefore there is no reason to mention them (or that overused, outdated term “LGBT”) in your reporting for this article.
