Did Obama & Clinton negotiate terms of surrender in Feinstein’s parlor…?

Hillary Clinton met with Barack Obama yesterday at the Washington, D.C. home of their Senate colleague Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) and “had a productive discussion about the important work that needs to be done to succeed in November,” according to a joint statement issued after the meeting.

The troika of senators was tight-lipped about the topics of discussion at the top-secret tete-a-tete, prompting widespread speculation about what it was that the presumptive nominee and the would-like-to-have been nominee actually discussed during their hour-long meeting. But details of the Clinton/Obama summit have begun leaking out.

“At just about 9 p.m., Mrs. Clinton and Senator Barack Obama arrived for a face to face chat,” David Herszenhorn whispered breathlessly on The Caucus, the New York Times blog page. “No staff. No spouses. Just the two of them in Mrs. Feinstein’s living room,” Herszenhorn reported with hushed excitement.

“The California senator had set up two chairs facing each other,” Herszenhorn wrote. No, they did not break bread together, but “She served them water. Nothing else,” Herszenhorn confirmed. “Two aides were sent to Mrs. Feinstein’s study,” the Times reporter revealed with all the attention to detail that journalists used to reserve for superpower summits of the Reagan/Gorbachev era. “And Secret Service agents stayed outside…”

So there you have it: what Herszenhorn calls “The Meeting” finally took place, sans spouses, sans staff, sans DiFi herself, who discreetly left the room with the two chairs so that the two titans of the Democratic presidential primary contest could talk alone.
