Withers: Ten random thoughts

1. I’ve been dog sitting my neighbor’s diva the past few days. Mr. G is a stubborn little beast who hates going for walks; however, he gives the bestest dog kisses.
2. Say what you will about Vice-President Joe Biden, he is always entertaining.
3. Reason 973 why I hate the gym: I’m the only one who sweats. Profusely. Abundantly. Amply.
4. Is it smart for Mitt Romeny to be taking a swipe at Sarah Palin? The Republican base like her. Him not so much.
5. Why is Mayor Sam Adams telling tales about how many times he called Beau Breedlove? A private note to my new love interest Beau: if we had a past, I would never lie about it.
6. Poet Robert Hayden needs a good biographer.
7. Hefty books take a long time to finish.
8. Did anyone go to Jazz Fest in New Orleans? I’m going next year.
9. This is cheesy but worth listening to.
10. Has anyone ever met a bus driver who gave information minus an attitude?

Good morning, Mr. Withers. Decent thoughts to start the day with.
1. Watching my father’s girlfriend’s dog. Has severe dog-brain, but she’s a great companion. And she’s taught me that I am DEFINITELY a cat person…
2. While most of America was asking itself what there was to be made fun of with the new administration, I never balked. We’ve always had Joe!
3. My reason #973: no amount of weight lifting or sweating will give me muscles. I’m better off working in my garden where no one can behold my indignity.
4. Swipes from one GOP rep to another have become common fare. It seems to be the only way they’ll come to a conclusion about a 2012 presidential candidate: Battle For The Last Republican Standing.
5. Eh. Why not? Heh…
6. Definitely. Poets’ lives are generally more interesting than their actual poetry (in my humble opinion).
7. Yeah. In the middle of vol 2 of Journey To the West and John Stuart Mill’s “On Liberty and Utilitarianism.” The never-ending volumes…
8. Never been. But what better place is there to see jazz than its birthplace? Heh. Maybe somewhere in Switzerland…
9. Wonderful. Truly uplifting. Cheesy, I guess, but also truly uplifting. I’m adding it to my list which so far consists of the Bruce Springsteen/Woody Guthrie “This Land Is Our Land” that was performed during the inaugural ceremony on I think it was 19th January this year.
10. Yes, actually, in New Orleans. It was several years ago, now. One of the nicest men I’ve ever met in my life. He said, “You should always love your job and do it well.” And he knew his job and did it VERY well.
Actually, as I come to think of it, New Orleans was my best domestic travel experience. The people of that city really give meaning to the term “Southern hospitality.” Everyone, from waiters to clerks to bus drivers to the people on the street, asked how we were enjoying our stay and what they could do to make their city more friendly. And I still think about that bus driver from time to time…
Mayor Sam Adams thing is so wird cuz i would not think it would have been any thing at all if adams would not lied and lied, so what he had sex with a 17 yo, what a dumb rule!! in my state Maryland the leagle age is 16 years old.
sky w.
One who comes to mind immediately was the guy who used to drive the 18 Beaubien bus in Montreal. Not only was he terribly nice but he had a little basket of candy for passengers.
No no no,, Monsieur Matt,, the people who drive la 30 rue Saint-Hubert//Saint-Denis are the nicest, plus they don’t take any [crap] from people. I was riding back to my place this afternoon and he was helping little old ladies and single québécois mothers with children. No candy, but at least he can maneuver through the traffic up near the 40 without running over the bicycles, slow *ss pedestrians and idiotic drivers.
PS Jazz Fest is an experience,, make sure to drink water before you go, bring tidy wipes, condoms and hand sanitizer in your backpack along. Oh and before you go,, put some bottled waters in the freezer until frozen solid, and suck on the melt water as long as possible,, so you don’t overheat. And if you get New Orleans size cocktails, as many tourists feel they must, then make sure you have lots of ice. Make sure to go to the Zydeco tent and the Gospel tent. See Rosie Ledet, Zachary Richard, Denise LaSalle and the like. If any artists from Québec are there, go listen to them as well. Links for music below.
Rosie Ledet you can eat my poussière. I dedicate this to you gangstalicious, I meant Reverend Dr Withers.

3. My #973 why I hate the gym – everyone at the gym thinks you’re secretly looking at them – especially the cute ones.
