Thank you. I was so angry the way Hillary was referred to as a ‘bitch’ while she was running. The blatant sexism was horrible! Thank you for saying something about it!
(and then when the GOP put Palin up there in a sad attempt to get the women votes that would have gone to Hillary… We aren’t dumb!)

Hillary Clinton endured this mistreatment during the Democratic primary. There would have been outrage (rightfully so)if Barack Obama was called the ‘N’ word. However, Hillary Clinton was called a ‘bitch’ live on CNN by Alex Castellanos. At other times, she was called a “white bitch”. Yet there was no racial or gender outrage–certainly not on the level it would have been if Obama had been called the ‘N’ word by an analyst at CNN.

The fact is men are still considered superior to women. (This was a subtext in the Democratic Primary: Obama may be Black, but at least he’s a man…..) The REALLY sad thing is much of the mistreatment of women is done by OTHER WOMEN! I have heard many women say they would never vote for a woman for President since women can’t handle the job or it’s not a woman’s place.

I LOATHE Sarah Palin. However, I neither condone nor practice sexism towards her or any woman. Palin is an IDIOT–plain and simple!

No? Even though the term means “female dog” and it’s historically been used to bash women?!

This reminds me of the straight parents’ defense of their lil darlings using the word “gay.” “They don’t mean it THAT way. They mean uncool.”

(FWIW, I don’t have a major objection to gay men using the word when they are camping it up among each other. Camp/satire and challenging rigid gender lines need some creative room to breath. Just be aware of your audience…when it moves outside of the gay male community, it leaves “camp” and enters “ugly sexism.”)

You don’t fight hate with hate. You fight hate with love, compassion, and speaking the truth (“coming out”).

You can love and have compassion for someone and still voice strong disagreement to what they’re doing.

Besides, isn’t going after the haters aggressively a losing battle anyway? I’ve come to believe recently that it’s those who sway the middle who will win. And I don’t think that you’ll sway many people in the middle using the B word for women, no matter how blatantly you think they hate us. Play to the *middle*. (Frankly, I’ve given up on the Far Right. Waste of time, IMO.)

The sad part is your right. I know we shouldn’t stoop to our opponents level by dishing out the hate in the same manner as them, but I call men bitches all the time, so is it still sexist? Rush Limbaughs a bitch, Glenn Beck is a lil bitch, and Donnie Mclurkin is a huge bitch. So I don’t think its really a sexism issue, we just need to treat people the way we’d wanted to be treated, no matter how hard they make it for us.

Withered…you hate gay men! you wish you had been a woman…. let’s face it your a prime candidate for gender re-assignment … as you already have no balls.
Just a heads up, straight men will also find you to be just another unfortunate mistake between the sheets.
