if white gays barely acknowledge black gays within the goddamned lgbt community, how did they appeal in their campaign against prop 8 to black people’s better judgement? OH YEAH, that’s right, they didn’t! there wasn’t any outreach, AT ALL, to people of color. all the ads had white faces…yet again the pulbic relations face of “gay” was painted “white”. why do i say you have to appeal to black people’s better judgement? because black people ARE NOT SOLELY DEFINED BY CIVIL RIGHTS, RACIAL DISCRIMINATION, OR YOUR WARPED IDEA OF WHAT IT IS TO BE BLACK. black people ARE NOT A MONOLITHIC GROUP OF PEOPLE, defined by one thought or theme, we are a VARIED people, like white people, latino people, asian people, etc. this shit should be common sense. take off your white privilege la-di-da everyone is going to agree with my white male self rose colored glasses and see the world for WHAT IT IS, and not WHAT YOU WANT IT TO BE.

some black people are religious zealots and some are just plain homophobic. to expect all black people to never discriminate against others is ridiculous, because if i went by THAT logic i would never expect TO ENCOUNTER RACIST GAYS LIKE YOURSELF, and i refuse to be oblivious (like you) enough to do that. whenever you want something in THIS country you have to lobby and campaign for it, and the no on 8 people SHOULD HAVE MADE THEIR MESSAGE RESONATE WITH PEOPLE OF COLOR BY INCLUDING PEOPLE OF COLOR IN THEIR CAMPAIGN. the end.

homophobia needs to be addressed in the black community, but it also needs to be addressed in the white community, and every other community in this country. but racism damn sure needs to be addressed in the gay community. so to WAYNE AND EVERY OTHER RACIST GAY PERSON on this website: please, kindly take all those fingers you’re pointing at blacks, lgbt and straight, put them in your mouths and choke on them. not a damn one of y’all has a leg to stand on until you deal with your racist issues.

I had a long conversation with my very Christian cousin about issues of sexuality and gender identity.

I went to church with her and her young daughters to watch them sing in the youth choir.

I stayed through the service. The sermon was about how negative people impact your thinking. The pastor spoke of how we should look forward and work toward a better day here on earth.

I had a wonderful time on all fronts.

Yes, there is homophobia in the Black Community. Some of you continue to ignore that admission on every single post Mr. Wither’s makes.

There is also homophobia in the white, latin, asian… you get the point.

None of them are right.

I say again that there’s a level of racism in the Gay community that some won’t acknowledge that Black people were soley responsible for Prop 8 and similar propositions passing across our country.
