Withers: Liberals leery of Obama

The world is going to end peoples. Get your stuff in order because it is the end of days.I would repeat a Richard Pryor joke about nuclear annihilation and a woman he was attracted to, but this is a family site.

Why is human history over? Because the National Review, that had an early October post where a writer seriously wondered if Barack Obama’s memoir was penned by Bill Ayers, has an article approving of Obama’s recently announced econ team.

“In fact, there is no question that Obama’s economic team is right of center. All three are market-oriented. They’re also pro-free-trade.”

Not convinced you need to get your butt to church and get right? Okay, what about this? Over at that liberal rag The Nation, there is the suggestion Obama’s Cabinet selections thus far show a man who wants to extend the administration of George W. Bush.

“Virtually all of his [Obama's] leading appointments are restoring the Clinton presidency, only without Mr. Bill. In some important ways, Obama’s selections seem designed to sustain the failing policies of George W. Bush”

The National Review pleased with Obama while The Nation is convinced the president elect is a card carrying member of the GOP?!! What’s next? Sean Hannity reading a book that doesn’t have pictures?

I’m scared.

    • While I agree that it may be wise to have some seasoned former Clinton people in his Cabinet and Staff in light of our current global economic crisis, and the war, I think President-elect Obama should be including more left of center Progressives in these posts to advance his alleged philosophy of positive “CHANGE” and to better achieve success positive results for social/economic justice issues.

    • Liberals are under attack both from the Republicans and from “centrist” Democrats for being dour, pissy, and no fun at a party. On the other hand, we have been on the historically correct side of every issue. I am willing to wait for Prez-O’s first 100 days in office before rending my garments (my PROUD TO BE A LIBERAL tee-shirt,) Meanwhile, many of his appointments seem mealymouthed to me. We’ll see. Now, excuse me, I have a party to get ready to ruin.

    • Give the Man a break. We are in an economic crisis here, what is wrong with appointing individuals who obviously worked for economic growth during the Clinton era. You just being myopic.

The republicans are accusing him of being the most liberal senator. Now homosexuals are accusing him of being a republican.

Do you want him to go march with you in the streets against prop 8, when the most urgent issue that faces all Americans today is the ECONOMY.

I am gay, I want equal rights for gays for the rest of the country just like we have in my state of Massachusetts, but loosing my job will hurt me more right now.

      GIVE HIM A BREAK

    • Seriously folks, read his proposed policy changes and goals compare them to what we currently have and then write an article with accuracy and substance.

    • He flat out told all of us his hero is Ronald Reagan.
He’s going to put Ms. Bush-in-a-pants-suit in as Secretary of State.
You remember, she was the one that also wanted a continued and everlasting “presence” in Iraq.
And he’s keeping on Gates. You know, the guy that facilitated virtually every scam, scheme, embezzlement and cronyism of the Iraq war for W?
AND his idea of national healthcare is to pass a law FORCING Americans to contribute to the revenue raiding insurance execs who are already bleeding Americans to the tune of tens and hundreds of millions of dollars every year while claiming they have to cut back benefits to the subscribers they have now.
Also, did anyone else catch Barney Frank dismissing concerns regarding these profane annual compensations for the corporate Fat Cats on D L Hughley’s show on CNN by stating: Well, don’t worry about those CEO’s, they’re going to have that money anyway.
So, yeah, HE’s REAL concerned about where all that taxpayer money is actually going.
So, about all of this CHANGE?
Same ol’ same ol’ and he hasn’t even started yet.
