Withers: Al Qaeda leader doesn’t like Obama much

Barack Obama

This is a day old story, but its racial humor matches the genius of Richard Pryor or, for you youngsters, Aaron McGruder’s “The Boondocks.” The second in command of Al Qaeda, Ayman al-Zawahri, released an audio-tape calling President-elect Barack Obama a “House Negro.”

No one expected the terrorist organization to close up shop after a guy whose middle name is Hussein was elected, but to throw out the “House Negro” charge makes Zawahri more versed in the ramblings of Ralph Nader than black-American history.

First there is the technicalal point Zawahri misses. A “House Negro” in it’s popular definition is a black person who does the bidding of those in power. However, Obama come January will be the resident of the White House (”big house” if we are staying with the plantation motif), and he will be in charge. People will do his bidding

Then there is Zawahri’s liberal quoting of  Malcolm X. I got no beef with Malcolm X, but last time I checked he wasn’t the reason why the Civil Rights Act passed. Don’t get me wrong. Malik al-Shabazz was a master critic of what ailed the country (he refused to buy into the nation’s vision of its own pure innocent history), but when it came to the nuts and bolts of getting things done, like getting folk the right to vote, he came up short.

Lastly, only people who refuse to let go of the past use the term “House Negro.” Today’s racial world is too complex for that musty phrase. Sort of makes sense Zawahri would trot it out.

    • Obama seems to be a lightning rod for criticism from all directions. The irony of Zawahri’s asinine comments is that, among America’s right-wing conspiracy theorists, Obama is a covert Muslim terrorist in league with our enemies. Yet, for many on the left, he’s too cozy with the right. And for gay rights purists, he’s not sufficiently pro-gay. Fortunately, Obama seems to be a lot more intelligent and politically adept than his enemies.

    • Zawahri isnt even close to the same league as Pryor.

    • Osama and Zawahri are obviously using race as a weapon to sow racial division and discord in our society.
But African American and European American people in the USA are too bright to fall for their desperate gambit.

Maybe Osama and Zawahri sense their influence weakening in the Arab world as prosperity there grows and as Iraq etc hopefully begin to calm down and find their way and grow more comfortable with dealing with both Middle Eastern and Western countries alike.

USA is trying to talk sensibly to Iran and hopefully both sides will find mutual benefit to putting aside the belligerent talk.

Osama and Zawahri may one day find their influence shrinking to the Afghanistan and Pakistan mountain and tribal areas is my prediction. Then they will get sick and die of natural causes as all human beings must since we don’t seem to be able to catch them before their time of naturally expiring. They are both into the aging process at this time, grey beards and all and obviously looking far from young every time we see them in their video releases.

As for Obama, he is a Christian, not a Muslim, he has told us all that himself.

His first and middle names are derived directly from Arabic. But Arabs are not all Muslims, they can be Christians as well as there are Arabs from both faiths in the Middle East.

The turban on Obama’s head was I read part of the regional dress from his ancestral part of Kenya where ethnic Somalis live and apparently the turban typical of some Muslim countries was the regional dress where his father may have come from. And Somalia in East Africa is a Muslim majority country.
Now whether or not Obama’s people are of Somali origin living within Kenya’s borders or he merely put on that outfit because it could have been common to that part of Kenya, I don’t know.

I am in the wait and see mode as to what Obama winds up actually doing as President after his inauguration day is over as the realities of the world in 2009 influence what he must do over what he was hoping he could do at the time of his campaign.

On a bright note, Democrat Senatorial homophobe Robert Byrd has resigned from the Senate due to increasing age-related physical infirmaties. He gave his resignation speech and was quickly wheeled out of the Senate chamber in his wheelchair.

Ted Stevens the ancient and corrupt republican has been replaced by a middle aged Democrat who says he is an Alaska Democrat (not a New York Democrat he says)Begich is pro gun rights and pro oil drilling in the lands near the Gwich’in Indians and their carabou herds of the Alaska-Canada border areas. in ANWR also known as to Gwich’in people in their native language as the “Place Where Live Begins” referring to the birthing area of their caribou. What to know if Begich is antigay as well or not.

    • Considering the opinions held by al qaeda, and their partners in the taliban, about women, it is not surprising they would also be racists.
