Withers: Will Bill cost Hillary a job?
How ironic would it be if Hillary Clinton didn’t get the job of secretary of state because of her husband?
Looks like as Team Obama vets the New York senator for the gig, the biggest stumbling block is her husband’s professional life since he left the White House eight years ago.
No one is accusing Bill Clinton of anything illegal (well Fox News’ Sean Hannity hasn’t opened his eyes yet this morning), but some details of the “Big Dawg’s” work—the complete list of donors to his foundation—have not been under public scrutiny.
There is also a question of who is paying the former president $425,000 an hour to give speeches.
To repeat there are no charges of impropriety, but there are conflict concerns and it has been floated out that Clinton, Bill that is, might have to give up the speaking fess and foundation work for Hillary to get the gig.
No matter how this turns out, Obama will come off smelling rose perfect. If Clinton turns down the gig (which I doubt), Obama can look to her base and say he made a good effort. If she takes it, then he will have followed that wonderful piece of advice by a certain movie character who runs the family business:
“Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer.”

Hillary may not take the job if Bill is leaned on too hard. Now THAT would be a talking point, no?, until, say 2012. Lots of different things could happen in this vetting period. I don’t get why she would take the job, anyway, abandoning her cat-bird seat in the Senate.
If Obama doesn’t choose Clinton, he will really offend her 18M supportors. My suggestion: It’s about time Hillary got rid of the bum. I think she would garner a great deal of respect if she divorced good ole Bill.
The Menstruator,
Can you please point to the sexism in my post? As for what you think of my mom, that was rather weak. If you are going to insult at least make it funny or witty. Mater deserves better.
Sincerely,
James
A woman can only do something with the word “secretary” in it, right Withers? Why don’t you just stick to smuggly following your president elect and seriously, just leave Hillary the hell alone. Focus on Bill some more, he’s more your speed perhaps? Or follow your fellow misogynist, Bill Maher? And talk about Palin every 30 seconds. I’m tired of listening to men discuss female politicians. We get it. Men still think they are better. Great. I’m glad you think your mother is less than a man. Move on. I would’ve thought more of your mom had she had an abortion.
From the same information, I come to a conclusion quite different than yours. Should Hillary not become Secretary of State because of Bill, I do not see Obama coming out of this smelling like roses. Rather, I see a vindictive personality setting the Clintons to twist in the wind once more.
