Tommy, although we are both off-topic here ... I believe ENDA, UAFA (formerly PPIA), LLEHCPA, and the repeal of DADT and DOMA will happen quickly, because they are very cheap, will reassure the base that they elected the right man and the right congress, and will be forgotten by the majority of voters by the time Obama needs re-election. Some voters won't like those, but most voters will be voting on whatever the pressing issue of the day is. As for personal stories, after 10 years living with my US husband, I had to leave my job and my home because my employers messed up my job-based green-card application. I watched people who arrived after me find someone and get married and get their green card all because they married someone of the opposite sex. I married someone of the same sex. Now I'm kicked out. It cost me thousands of dollars to move, and costs me thousands of dollars to visit my husband.

I've some very mixed feelings about gay marriage. I lost my job because I'm gay. I had no Constitutional right, because ENDA was never passed, to keep my job despite harassment and discrimination. I lost my career, my benefits, and even my pension contributions after a long fight in Federal Courts. So, for now, I can live without a marriage license. I will lose most everything without my job. I've lost my income, my benefits, and even my pension contributions. It is most likely that I will lose my home, because I don't have that ENDA protection ... or protection under the 14th Amendment to the Constitution. It disturbs me greatly when I mention ENDA to young GLBT folks, and they don't know what in the world it is. It is difficult for me to fully support gay marriage when I know that without ENDA more people will end up in my situation, i.e., losing everything.
