Withers: Ten random thoughts

By James Withers, contributing editor, 365Gay Blog 11.09.2009 9:16am EST

10-top

1. Why does  anyone care what former New York Times reporter Jayson Blair thinks?

2. Should  lame duck governor Jon Corzine sign a gay marriage bill?  At first blush, I say no.

3. Why do people always include the word “hot” when they use the term Latin band.

4. Will pushing for gay marriage save New York’s David Paterson?

5. This story about  premature aging for some who are on HIV medications, proves again why safe sex is important. Wear a condom peoples.

6. Congratulations to Charles Pugh and Sandra Kurt. Local elections are just as critical as the national ones.

7. No work for me today. Levi Johnston is apparently in New York for his Playgirl photo shoot.

8. Anyone have any Palm Springs Pride stories? Please if you want to moan about how ashamed you are about Dykes on Bikes or some other “freaks”, keep the diatribe to a minimum. We all know gay marriage would be the law of the land if gays and lesbians just wore J. Crew and acted right.

9. Discovered Hill Street Blues on Hulu. I’m screwed.

10. Too many books. Not enough time.

    • 1) Unfortunate situation – It’s never a good thing when someone is unable to handle the pressure of their chosen profession. I feel for the guy.
      2) YES – support is ALWAYS good, regardless of the situation.
      3) They should say Caliente!!!
      4) This is EXACTLY what we want politicians to do…use equal rights as their hail mary passes!
      5) Billions of dollars have been spent on researching HIV. We need a super database of all results and scientists focused exclusively on pulling together the divergent postulates to develop a universal amalgamation of anti-retroviral studies.
      6) Every local politician who is supportive of our rights is one more person potentially set to win a more influencial position.
      7) This is nonsense, but more power to the man helping to demonstrate the idiocy of the former Repulican VP.
      8) Gay pride parades helped to bolster my and many of my friends when we were initially coming out – all participants in the parades!
      9) I still remember the SHOCKING tush scene!!!
      10) There are never enough books, however, perhaps the digital readers will allow us more opportunities to read!
      11) Despite some of your controvercial commentaries, I am especially fond of your work. Thanks for continuing despite your detractors…even when I’m one of them!

    • You’ve got a good point, I hate when people bitch about how the “freaks” at Pride parades are embarrassing. By what law of the land do we have to suck up to straight people and act “normal” to appease them? It’s an overrated state of being if you ask me.

    • James, Why do you say “no” for NJ marriage?

Once the law of the land it can’t be repealed by the voters, we have no referendum process like most of the other states have.

    • We could just have a sexual fetish parade to support gay families instead. That would make sense.

      Oh wait…. nevermind
