Gig, a forensic discussion with you, as shown several times above, isn’t so much a matter of English comprehension as it is a sobriety test. I have foreign friends whose English is so bad that they couldn’t intelligibly ask for water if their cock was on fire, and even they make more sense than you do. There’s a famous gorilla in California that has shown better language skills than you possess, which puts your grasp of the language right above that of parrots but still below that of house-broken dogs. If you were any less coherent by so much as one word, you’d be receiving medication for Tourrettes. The only thing you have proven so far is the danger of being raised in a nursery furbished with lead-based paint.

I am so glad you think I am funny – really, that has made my day. As for producing the email, I would be happy to do so, but if you really want people to judge it fairly, to ascertain whether you were justified in saying what you did and whether I was right to regard it as rude, I would also need to reproduce article that prompted a number of people to post abusive messages calling you a racist, the messages themselves and my response. Is it really fair of you to request I trawl through this site and my email account gathering all that information when you can’t even be bothered to restate comments you’ve allegedly made in the past or provide links thereto?

Regarding GIG (or Loonytunes as I prefer to call him), I don’t believe he does attempt to engage people. I believe he attempts to incite people. The fact that he responds directly to what other people are saying is irrelevant. He has stated on numerous occasions that homosexuals are pedophiles. He has stated on numerous occasions that we all have AIDS or cancer or drug/alcohol addictions. He has attempted to support his arguments with fictional statistics and twisted facts.

I don’t object to engaging with Christians, but I do object to being told I rape children and spread disease on a site that champions gay rights issues. I would not presume to speak for others here, but I find his continued presence on here deeply offensive and cannot understand why you would allow him to participate considering the vile, hateful messages he continues to post.

Still, this isn’t my site, so I respect your decision to allow the vile hatemonger to continue professing his bigoted lies and preaching his corrupted version of the Christian faith. I mean, it’s not as though we have to deal with such hatred on a daily basis now is it? Oh, wait…

And yes, your spam filters are getting better, but it’s not good enough. On most sites, including my own, the spam filters are set up to look for certain keywords and links in the first five or ten posts a registered member makes. If none of their first five/ten posts are spam, thereafter they are ignored by the spam filter unless it is instructed to regard ALL their messages as spam. Could such a system not be implemented here? No need to answer – I’m sure the powers that be are working on it.

Anyway, these last few posts have been somewhat off-topic and I’m sure they’ve been thoroughly boring to the vast majority of people still following this discussion, so I’ll leave it there. Thank you for taking the time to respond to my concerns regarding Loonytunes and your “spam” assassin – it’s good to know that both issues are firmly on your radar.

Your points about GIG are valid. There have been times I’ve been tempted to put his/her comments in our spam pile, but unlike previous Christian trolls she/he tries to engage people. That is why the comments have not been removed. It’s a thin line but up to now, at least in my estimation, he/she has not been crossed it.

As for our system targeting certain people, we’ve had that problem for ages. Actually it works better than it did in the past. There used to be a time when most of our comments were in the spam pile. I know it annoys people, and we are doing our best to take the kinks out.

James Withers, it seems, cannot be touched by criticism. Ironically, on one occasion I actually posted a message on here defending him against some unfair criticism he received from another member. His response then? A fairly rude email instructing me not to do it again.

Fortunately, Mr Withers is the least of the problems this site faces. We have a spam system that mysteriously targets certain people on a seemingly regular basis. We have the raving loons who constantly rant on and on about the “Christian Taliban”, deciding that the best way to fight hatred is with hatred. We have freaks like “God is Good” who are somehow allowed to come on here, post vile and abusive messages, repeatedly state that all homosexuals are pedophiles, riddled with AIDS, drug addicts, drunks and criminals, yet the powers that be here at 365 seem to think that the rest of us don’t have to deal with enough of this kind of hatred in the outside world, we should be forced to endure it here too.

I can understand why Mr Withers pisses you off, but he’s the least of the problems at this site, and on rare occasions he is even capable of reminding me why I come here. I’ve come to regard him as a well-meaning fool who occasionally gets it right, and you’ll find dealing with him far less frustrating if you do the same. Trust me.

Oh, and Mr Withers, anything you’ve read in my post above that resembles praise or an attempt to defend you is purely coincidental, so there’s no need for another rude email from you.

It was certainly not hard enough to find this thread with the site’s limited search features, let alone how easy and obvious it’d be to find your obscure, un-cited, invisible statistics.

It is of course naturally the sign of a fool to address your critics with actual links of these answers and positions you speak of. It would be most wise to respond with the incessant sentiment of ‘duh, of course you’re too ignorant to have read and sifted through the millions of words on this site to have found my research and backing – which I’ve conveniently not supplied – to my arguments in this very editorial’.

Withers, [sarcasm off for a moment so I can drive the point home]: when you write a piece with a thesis, generally it’s a good idea to include the statistics, data, and references that back up that thesis in that same editorial. When the purported references that support your argument have to be searched for by your readers, with no link, no date, no article title, and no context supplied, you paint your arguments to be full of nothing but hot air (and perhaps a few rotting carcasses).
