Withers: Palin and Johnston show continues
Get out the popcorn because the Palin/Johnston show is back! Levi Johnston, the father of Sarah Palin’s grandson, is telling the family secrets and the former governor is not liking it one bit.
According to Johnston he was a convenient prop at the Republican Convention (shocking!), only there to firm up Palin’s conservative bona fides. Can’t be a national Republican with an unmarried pregnant daughter. Palin, also reported by Johnston, referred to her Down Syndrome child Trig as “retarded” on multiple occasions.
Oh, the juice! Details! Dirt! Drama! Palin released a press release accusing Johnston of being a liar with pants a fire.
“We, like many, are appalled at the inflammatory statements being made or implied. Trig is our ‘blessed little angel’ who knows it and is lovingly called that every day of his life. Even the thought that anyone would refer to Trig by any disparaging name is sickening and sad.”
Palin isn’t reading this, but baby what’s up with the over the top press release? And why, oh why, are you getting into a war of words with a 19 year old boy? Yes he’s cute and all (am I the only one intrigued by his upcoming Playgirl gig?), but an adult who argues with a youngster looks small and peevish. Not a good look if you are a “star” of your party.

I agree with Isaac. Thats pretty ballsy accusations to make, and what the hell does it help to tell people that? It just seems to me like he’s trying to be messy and just doesn’t like her. And maybe for good reason, but damn, theres better ways of making her look like crap. She’s so good at doing it on her own.
No really, is he doing playgirl?
Hey;
Ya run for office, ya write a book, ya wax controversial, ya takes your lumps.
She’s getting a million and a quarter plus for her book; he’s getting, well whatever -probably a lot of money for his book ummmmm layout I guess… for lack of a better term.
She bashes everyone else for $$$ and attention; he bashes her for $$$ and attention. Seems like a fair shake to me.
Indeed, he’s turned out to be a rather quick study in the world of US politics and celebrity.
“…he’s cute and all…”
He is? Really? Personally I find him soul-shudderingly repugnant, but I guess there’s no accounting for taste.
Anyway, while I take your point about Palin arguing with a child, and found her press release less “over the top” and more “stomach clenchingly nauseous”, I can completely understand why she is responding. This overgrown toddler is attacking her family, and in particular her skills as a parent in caring for her most vulnerable child.
Now, either he’s a vile piece of crap for coming up with these lies, or she’s a vile piece of crap for treating her child that way. Either way, I think you would be hard pressed to find a parent who wouldn’t respond in that situation.
Sorry, Mr Withers, but as much as I would like to join the Palin-bashing, I think her desire to respond is entirely natural, and if the gossip this 19 year old supposed adult is spreading is untrue then he’s getting off lightly if all he has to deal with is a war of words. If someone came after my family that way, I’d smash their kneecaps with a hammer – though I imagine reading Palin’s press release could be slightly more painful.
She really needs to issue an apology for employing Scientologists before she gets any good press.
