Yesterday I gave  Barack Obama props for ending the day strongly in polls. My distrust of the numbers is well documented and today’s AP poll just reconfirms that reticence to dance in the streets. Today ended with an AP poll that shows John McCain is one percentage point behind Obama nationally. Add to this Mason-Dixon polling that shows McCain nipping at Obama’s heels in the battleground states of Florida and Virginia , today proves that the only poll that really counts is on November 4 and any candidate who takes it easy will be making a concession speech in a few weeks.
