I’m very sorry if my comment offended you. However, if you listen to some people being gay IS a choice that can be changed (even when we know it can’t).

Some people are heavy due to many medical reasons. We cannot assume that a person is large because they choose to be lazy. To say that it’s a choice is as wrong as the right wing saying being gay is.

This comment is about Withered’s “Corpulent” article

I must say…. this young man is wearing a shirt that comments on the monarchy!

The fact that he has a build of substance should not limit his right of expression.

In fact when I commented on a man Wither’s age wearing a hoodie I was blasted as a racist. Now Withers condems a brother for being at the most Wither’s size and weight and feels this man has no right of expression.

As for the cartwheels…. something this easy to comment on…. something this simple …… something this irrelevant to gay life is probably the territory Withers covers best!

Stay tuned next week when Withers gets a hang nail and is refused treatment from his HMO for being an HOMO!

@PaddyV: At 17 you may not be taking into account all the variables. My previous comment relates to my stepmother, who until she was 45 held a view similar to that of Mr. Withers. She used to look at people who appeared to not need handicapped placards or license plates and get angry. She used to look at obese people and think similarly. That was until she would collapse for no reason and needed to use a scooter to get around in public which, combined with other physical limitations and her illness resulted in excessive weight gain. You can’t know why obese people are they way they are. Many are obese because they are lazy and have no self control, but others have no control or choice.

Will Bowden… I am a gay 17-year-old I’d just like to say that I find your comment offensive. Being gay or being black are both immutable characteristics, whereas being fat is something that can be PREVENTED and if it happens can be CHANGED. FAT is completely different from GAY. Fat people are fat by CHOICE and are causing plenty of problems in this world because of their choices. Contrary to what people think… not all differences should be so tolerated! People don’t come in “all shapes and sizes”, they make themselves into unnatural sizes. We shouldn’t pity them. Making fun of this fat asshole is ok… maybe if he walked then he wouldn’t be fat and we wouldn’t have reason to make fun of him. Then he’d just be an asshole!

Yes, I agree with Craig in AZ,
I think that Withers articles and blogs are not much worth reading anymore. I think that many times it seems that he writes something just to have a reason to argue with or put down the commenter. I’m sure we will see a rebuttal soon, probably in the form of an argument or a put down.

PS. Also, Mr. Withers wrote to Jake H – (Mmmmmm. Did you catch at all the digs at myself for being a porkster?) I don’t read where Mr. Withers is putting himself down at all unless you include this ONE sentence – (As a rule I care little about sartorial choices, but the clothes of my large clan do bring pause.)

Every so often, I will read Wither’s comments, and then remember WHY it was I swore off his pieces in the first place. Sorry to see he is still at the bottom of the barrel and digging…..
