It seems to me that the Republicans have never heard of the seven deadly sins:

1. Lust - They have had a bevy of sexual scandals, and lost several seats in Congress over the past few years. And they lust for power as well.

2. Gluttony - They are glutinous for power, never able to get enough, and never would to share it, even if it in their own best interests.

3. Greed - I think greed speaks for itself in light of today's news $700,000,000,000 headlines.

4. Sloth - They have removed regulation form every segment of business, and they have left a really nasty mess for their successors to clean up, and on more than one occasion in the past 40 years of so.

5. Wrath - They do everything in their power and abilities to get even with anyone who disagrees with their ideas and policies.

6. Envy - When someone else has more than they have, they will turn green from envy. (I bet they think it is green from a reflection from their money, and not from saving the environment!)

7. Pride - They are proud to have been able to steal from the poor and give even more to the rich. And they are proud to have created a political mess, and they try to call it patriotic. They are anything but patriotic, just an epitome of selfishness.

I expect Republicans will soon die from the seven deadly sins.

How CONVENIENT this crisis is for Mr. McCain. He can claim he is suspending campaigning out of patriotism and we will all ignore the fact that he has missed more votes than anyone else in Congress, that he stayed in NYC for interviews and that his hate ads continue in spite of his claim that he is suspending activity. What this does is allow him to weasel out of the debate where he would surely be trounced my Mr. Obama. Does the GOP STILL think we are buying this?

So after 26 years of helping his party enable the vultures and parasite that are directly responsible for this finanacial mess, he wants to run back to DC for a couple of days and straighten things out? That is kind of like asking a starving wolf to help rid the hen house of the fox, tho McCain is far from starving. It is also not very encouraging when Palin is stating she can see another Great Depression from her house.
I have seen numerouc comments defending the Republicans because of their fairy-tale platform of smaller government and less government regulation and interference in business, and after reading those comments I have one question. What in the hell do you think led to this financial disater in the first place? This is not the first time this has happened on the Republican watch. Does anyone remember the S&L crisis under Reagan after he deregulated the banks? Billions were looted and the taxpayers were stuck with the bill and now we are about to be chained to a bailout that will cost taxpayers over $800 billion more.
The banking & mortgage industry has proven that it is not capable of self-regulation, and that greed and corruption are rampant, not to mention stupidity and incompetence. Some wish to blame the borrowers for exceeding their income, but who actually had the final say in the matter? So while the CEOs and high-ranking executives go back to their million-dollar mansions, driving their luxury cars (for the poorer ones that don't have a chauffeur) while their servants prepare their meals, pick up their kids from private prepatory schools and pack their bags for a vacation at their summer home in the Hamptons, Blue-collar Joe has to worry about less important issues. Issues such as where to live since he was evicted from his house, how to feed and clothe his kids and hope they aren't bullied & harrased in public schools so that they may receive a mediocre education, how to pay for health care in case someone in his family needs medical attention and set aside for his retirement when Social Security fails, all on a meager sub-standard wage that does not even keep pace with inflation (The minimum wage would now be well over $10 an hour now, adjusted for inflation and cost of living, had not Reagan frozen the minimum wage during his reign - another legacy the people owe thanks for to the Republicans).
Another question that comes to mind: Why not eleiminat the middleman and pay off the mortgages, either fully or partially, thereby saving the banks and benefitting the taxpayers at the same time? This makes more sense to me than incurring a huge debt of a loan that will be handed back over to those very same greedy and corrupt morons that f'ed it up in the first place, and who will do so again without regulation to keep them honest.

McCain is trying to hold out as long as possible on holding the debates for one reason only. His strong suit is foriegn policy, it is the ONLY thing he may be able to win on in the debates. ONCE that is out of the way, Obama will mop the floor with him on domestic policy and everything else. McCain knows this and wants to put it off as long as possible with this bit of theatrics to show he is "VERY" concerned for the middle class (what a joke). All McCain is really after is to save his tired old WHITE ass from the political KICKING Obama is going to give it. (and yes I AM a gay white male)

I am SICK of the theocracy in government. 8 years was WAY too damned much of it.

Stick by your principles Obama! Tear that son-of-a-bitch UP!

..AND it was all fixed without him anyway..!! He ran like a scared chicken, yelling the the sky is falling!..Does anyone want his finger on the BUTTON! (or hers..when he collapses from the shock of trying to figure out which button?!)
Democratic Rep. Barney Frank said on Wednesday Democrats had reached an agreement on a financial bailout plan, and there would be enough votes to pass it and send it to President George W. Bush to sign into law.

"We now have between House and Senate Democrats an agreement on what we think should be in the bill, and we have a meeting scheduled at 10 a.m. tomorrow to meet with the Republicans," said Frank, who chairs the House of Representatives Financial Services Committee.

Frank took a dig at Republican presidential nominee John McCain, who has interrupted his campaign to return to Washington on Thursday to help work on a bailout bill.

"All of sudden, now that we are on the verge of making a deal, John McCain here drops himself in to help us make a deal, Frank said. "I really worry about the politicalization."
