I have nothing to add or say this morning. Today in Washington, DC, New York City, and Shanksville, Pennsylvania there will be memorials to the people who died that September morning eight years ago.

What are your memories and will you do anything to honor the day?

    • I remember everything about that tragic day. I was sitting in my 8th grade art class. The principal came on the intercom speakers and announced what had happened. My teacher moved us to another classroom with a tv and we watched Fox News the rest of the class.

My middle school was just a few miles from DFW airport, so floods of parents came to school and took my friends home. I remained at school the rest of the day. It was strangely quite, not being able to hear planes coming and going outside. In each of my classes we sat and watched news, and discussed what was happening with up to date info.

The other strange thing for me about that day was the shirt I was wearing. It was a brand new shirt that my Mom had bought me and it had the New York skyline with the twin towers in glitter in the middle. It was the first and last time I have ever worn that shirt.

    • I remember calling my mother and hearing her say that she called “everyone” in the family and they are all safe. Sad thing is that she didn’t call “everyone” because she didn’t even consider calling me because of who I am.

Taught me what a piece of crap I have for a mother.

    • Exactly bama. In a large way, 09/11 changed us as a people and a nation. It showed a commonality between all men and women of this country. We will never forget but we will not allow those that hate liberty and freedom to change our way of life.

    • I remember being in total shock … and then freaking out trying to reach friends in the Pentagon to see if they were okay. Then relief when I found out they were fine, and then guilt for feeling relief when so many were not “okay” and would never be “okay” again.
Today I will call my friends who’s birthday it is today … because ever since 9/11 her birthday has been overshadowed. Then I will be living my life to the best that I can. I learnt a long time ago (growing up in England during the 1970s and the IRA bombings) that the minute you change how you live your life then the people who would do us harm have won!
