George, you are right one! Anyone who thinks otherwise is a fool.

This trickle-downward climb (oops, I meant spiral!) was started by the Reaganites of the 1980's, and ever since, the Republicans have worked to undermine the whole world and rid themselves of the common people who are trying to make life better for themselves and their families. They became afraid of an affluent middle class who was succeeding and threatened their power. They fear being found out.

After all, the Republicans are "secretly" working on a new "one world order" where they are in control and can, at the push of a button "turn off" the little man's ability to fend for himself/herself, and stop that same group from threatening their "select and special" Republican power and evil ways. It seems, they think, that there is not enough to go around, and they want it all for themselves. It is pure unadulterated greed.

Last night, on Larry King Live, even Donald Trump (and I do not like him at all!) said we were in a depression that has the markings of a financial disaster that is worse than the 1930's. Unfortunately, I have to agree with him. And it was all manufactured by the Republicans. I hope it backfires on them as well. May they falter this election and become disabled in their nasty ways. We have had enough of their $#!+.

And if the people of the US vote for Ancient McCain and Witch Palin, they will deserve what they get. And I will say I told you so, loud, clear and long!

"I do however want to stop the democrats from undoing all of the hard work the republicans have done in this country."

You may not consider yourself delusional, Steve, but you keep making delusional statements. What else are we to think?

The economy is in the crapper. You have millions and millions of Amricans losing their homes. You have 50,000,000 Americans with no health care. You are spending ten BILLION dollars a month on Iraq - a war predicated on a LIE. You have lost basic rights (whither Habeas Corpus, anyone?) and privacy (unauthorized wiretaps). You still have "Don't Ask; Don't Tell". You still have DoMA. You have Guantanamo Bay. You have Abu Ghraib. America tortures people. You have Larry Craig. You have lost the respect of the world. And you have the nerve to hold up "the hard work the Republicans have done"??? THAT, my friend, is what is called delusion, whether you consider yourself delusional or not.

Re-read your 3rd paragraph, Steve. THAT is a perfect example of the job the Republicans have done. And yet you excuse/ignore/discount it and see them as the country's "best hope". That, too, is delusion, not to mention pure and utter folly, imo.

"I will let my employer know just who and what I am."

I'd be very careful with that, considering that there are still 37 States in which you can be fired (or not hired in the first place) merely for 'beng who you are'. (I presume you mean that you're gay, but you don't even seem to have the guts to type the words, even on an anonymous combox.)

"I am not self hating but I will not back down from a fight just cause it’s a tough one."

Made even tougher by Republicans. Heck, even the daughter of the Vice President couldn't get her relationship talked about let alone legally recognized.

Steve, I am not insulted by your rebuttal, I am saddened by it.

As a rebuttal to George. I honestly do not consider myself delusional. I do however want to stop the democrats from undoing all of the hard work the republicans have done in this country.

I am sick and tired of them(Democrats) kissing ILLEGAL immigrant ass hoping that if we make'em citizens they will flock to the dema- commie party just like the african americans did at the end of the civil war. The democrats are losing their power base and they know it.
They had one chance with hillary(yes, even I would have voted for her) but It'll be a cold day in august before I ever trust Osama.

Since you mentioned it earlier George no I am not a 5 million dollar middle income type. I am currently unemployed having lost my job as a direct result of high gas prices, they had to cut back the fleet of service vehicles and I was one of 6 state wide let go because of budget tightening. That was mid June BTW.
So I am unemployed, denied food stamps because I make too much. I am having to give up my own home to move into a buddys place cause we both need the help and I still will proudly cast my vote for the republicans because economically,Militarily and even for the most part domestically they are still this counties best hope for long term solutions. Yes, I will still strive for equality just like the rest of you and yes I will let my employer know just who and what I am. and yes I will work locally for equal rights even though the odds are against me. I am not self hating but I will not back down from a fight just cause it's a tough one.
I mean this as a rebuttal not a rebuke or in any way other than political discourse. I enjoy debate and respect the right of others to have differing opinions. I at no time mean any insult to George or any other respondent to this site.

Steve typed: "I cant wait to cast my vote for her.

I realize that as a gay man that she is opposed to my civil rights"

And yet you support her. How delusional is that?

"I am working to try and educate my community and the rest of the republican party about this issue."

Good luck with that. A Vice-President's daughter couldn't - I doubt you'll have any more sucess at it than Mary Cheney did.

"It boils down ,for me personally, that I would rather have a strong economy"

Under another Republican?!?!? Utter folly,imo.

"than vote for someone thats going to tax me into an early grave"

You apparenty have't acually listened to what Obama has said in his speeches (as opposed to what Mrs Paln says he said). Or are you one of those "middle class" $5million a year earners John McCain speaks of?

"I don’t let the fact that I sleep with men be the only deciding factor when I make such an important decsion such as how I cast my vote."

Too bad the Republican patry does, eh?

"One last reason I will never trust or vote for Obama. Any man that refuses to stand for the pledge of allegiance or show any type of empathy for our nations service members has no business being their commander in chief."

Yet another lie of the 'right' that you have believed. How sad. How naive. How unfortunate for America. Almost every word you typed has ben shown to be false, and yet you still cling to it - despite your own best interests (nevermind the 'interest' of the Constitution that Repulicans are so fond of shitting on).

"Palin brings it"???

Mr. Withers, check your keyboard. It seems the "s" and the "h" keys aren't working properly.

Jenn, although I would dearly have loved to have seen an Obama/Clinton ticket, it would have been way too liberal (for America, anyway) to ever have a hope in Hade of winning the White House. I'm not sure how or why you see Mrs Palin as "charming".

If Obama wasn't so stubborn, he could have ran with Hillary and had a sure win...now, he's barely a blip on the radar. I may disagree with her politics, but she's charming, witty, and likeable.

It will be tough for Obama to do anything to this lady. She has about the same experience he does...only his lack of experience is at the top of the ticket, she's charming and evasive as he is, and he can't well criticize if women vote for her for her gender - because many blacks are voting for his race. It's a weird position.

I think the McCain/Palin ticket is just as likely to win...which is alarming given that their party has basically ruined our economy and world standing in 8 years.

Palin is obviously a very disturbed individual. For someone to say that they "like her" is just a sad reflection on their judgment.

Agreed again (and thank you as well) John,

... and indeed, though I do like Mrs. Palin (a lot), I moreso think/believe that the country desparately needs a democrat in the oval office.

Why thank you Tom. Although I will solidly vote for Senator Obama, my first choice for President was Senator Clinton. Because they are so close on all the major policy issues, Senator Obama is now the best positioned candidate to the lead us out of our current troubles. I certainly do not want 4 more years of the same. We are a kind and generous community who cares for our ill as the early AIDS crisis demonstrated, and we deserve better than McCain.
